Dr. Maria Valeri Gove, MD

This was my Dr at the VA for her 1yr contract. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had with any Dr. She is disrespectful to her patients. She says rude things and later denies. She gives harmful advice, Rx’s and service to people in need. She’s very judgmental and seems to have delusions of grandeur. I would not recommend her to any of you! Seems I'm not the only one complaining. She has bounced around to several jobs in the last couple years. See those reviews for yourself.

Dr Gove provides outstanding medical treatment as well as information. She listens with both ears and demonstrates extraordinary follow up. I highly recommend this talented physician.

I want to express my appreciation for the professional and prompt care given to my husband. The wait time was quick and the facility was spotless. Everyone at the clinic was very kind and courteous, especially my husband's physician Dr. Maria Gove. She patiently listened to our concerns and answered all questions. Overall it has been an excellent experience.

I have recently returned to Kaiser, and it has not been a good experience. The assigned me to Dr Gove, who has been a disappointment. Despite my having been on pain meds, and under the care of a pain doctor, for the past 12 years, she seems to think that she knows my situation better than he does, than I do, or than anyone else involved along the way does. She wrote the last prescriptions in such a way that the pharmacist could not fill them. He had to call an on-call doctor to rectify it; then she requested I have an EKG done prior to my next refill (despite having had one done recently at the hospital), so I did. I asked the nurse to be sure that Dr Gove sent the refill orders down to the pharmacy as I do not have enough to get through the weekend and would end up in the hospital (some meds you just can't stop taking them all at once without a severe physical reaction, such as non-responsive or seizure) I was assured that Dr Gove said she would send them down after her last… patient. I notified the pharmacy that they were coming down and would be picked up the next afternoon. I called ahead to be sure they were ready - surprise, Dr Gove never sent the requests down and had left for the day!!! Unbelievable insensitive to her patients' needs and health concerns. I have never had a doctor so disengaged from her patients. I am requesting a new doctor today and feel a great deal of relief knowing I am not going through this again. Shame on Dr Gove.

She is with Kaiser now and rather than offering actual medical advice, everything is "whatever you want to do". "Even though you're on estrogen you can get a mammogram every other year if you want to." "Even though your family has high risk of strokes you can reduce your high blood pressure medicine if you want to." "Even though your mother died of complications associated with diabetes, and your sister and brother both have diabetes and your A1C shows that you are prediabetic, I am not concerned." Have you ever had a wellness exam where the doctor did not even listen to your heart or lungs? I have! I had a wellness exam with Dr. Gove without her ever touching a hair on my head. I had to insist that she run labs to check my blood sugar and cholesterol and when they both came back on the high side of normal, she asked me what my concerns were since I had requested the labs. What kind of doctor is she that literally NEVER offered any medical opinion or advice. I left that… appointment feeling sad, vulnerable and totally alone with noone to help me.
