Dr. Maria Eleanor Lockhart, MD

IF YOU DONT LIKE A LONG WAIT TIME.. RUN… Too many years, too many hours driving from far away (I moved) b/c I liked this Dr. I drove 45 min to keep consistent for 20 something years. the fault in the practice is over booking for this Dr and having to wait to see her. For years I’d expect to wait only hoping things would change; never did! Even after addressing with office manager and Dr. (call first to see wait time or get morning appt- sure im coming from out east). Not talking reasonable wait time—- 2-3 hours passed scheduled appointment time. Good Dr but cares less about your time. So FINALLY after putting off my pap b/c of this FINALLY 4 years later going to local dr and hoping its not a long wait time (unfortunately its StonyBrook affiliated too)

D.r. Lockhart has been my physician for about 20 years. She has been unchanging in her demonstration of care and professionalism. Without over sharing ,found her guidance to be considerate , informative and reliable as a practitioner in medicine. I appreciate her acumen and compassion. She always checks in , has met and supported my family when it was needed and authorized. She is a A plus person and physicuan

I had this women in my delivery room as my labor was induced , unfortunately I wasn’t able to have my regular ob due to the holiday weekend. She’s extremely rough with zero kindness, hurt me several times and as I’m having excruciating contractions she’s on her cell phone in front of me . This women shouldn’t be practicing anything that has to do with medicine .

I have been seeing Dr Lockhart for about 19 years now, and cannot say one negative thing about her. She is a very caring and patient doctor. Yes sometimes the appointments can get backed up, but does not make her a bad doctor. I was referred to Dr Lockhart and I was so happy with her that I have referred several happy clients over. It is very difficult to find a doctor that make the visit so easy, she does that .I have never felt rushed and there is always time to discuss anything that is needed.Thank you Dr Lockhart and keep up the good work.

I've been going to SBOBGYN for almost thirty years seeing Dr. Judge and Dr. Lester mainly. Years back I had an emergency and was seen by Dr. Lockhart. I was blown away by her. I thought she was the most caring and special doctor ever. Every year following at my annual I would make sure I had Dr. Lockhart. I appreciated her so much that every time I saw her I would bring a special gift with me. It was just my way of showing her how special I thought she was. Ironically, I remember writing in one of the cards I gave her "don't ever change, because your a very unique and special doctor." WELL - SHE HAS CHANGED. TREMENDOUSLY. NOT for the better. I saw her recently when I brought my daughter for her first experience seeing a gyno. and she was awful with her. She was downright unkind. Not one smile or kind word. Impatient and rushed and intimidated my daughter. I was even asked by my daughter if the exam was going to hurt a lot because of Dr. Lockhart's tremendously long… nails. I had no answer to that truthfully. Recently, I had to see her myself since I was scheduled as an emergency, and again I was saddened to see that it was as if she was a different person. I don't want to assume her position as a medical professional has gone to her head, but she most definitely spoke down to me, demeaning me. Not a single smile or nice word to me. Barely said goodbye. What a shame- she used to be so kind and wonderful to her patients and I really counted on her.

She Diagnosed wrong and put me through surgery for no reason which then caused a miscarriage she is very surgery happy

I first went to Dr. Lockhart about 3 years ago and she noticed that I had fibroids. I knew I had them, but didn't really know how many which turned out to be quite a few. She then proceeded to tell me she wanted to do a hysteroscopy on me not to be confused with a hysterectomy. When she went in should found I had polyps which were not malignant. I was glad that she recommended the procedure, and removed them. I highly recommend her due to her being very knowledgeable and thorough.

I would not recommend Maria Lockhart to anybody. I've been a patient of hers for 2-3 years. Let's start with the basics. She overbooks appointments and frankly, moves too slow appointments. As a black professional woman working in a similar industry as her, I thought it was nice to have a black woman gynecologist. I quickly learned - credentials and professionalism shall come first. To be clear, she is irresponsible, lacks time management capacity and leadership qualities to be a practitioner. The situation that spurred me to cut ties with her and her establishment was - I had an urgent appointment set for 12:00 pm. I arrived at 11:45 am to fill out any necessary papers - which turned out, I only had to update my address. I didn't see Lockhart until 2:00 pm! Yes, you read that correctly. What ticked me off most is that I had a business meeting in Manhattan scheduled for 3:30 pm. I made her receptionists aware of this as I entered the 1 hour wait time. When I waited for her to… come to the room, I could hear her giggling with co-workers. She exhibits no sense of urgency, tenacity or real passion for her job. She's too lax and disconnected from such a vital profession that deals with womb health. When I told her my dismay for being seen so late all she could say is - "I apologize" in her unenthusiastic voice. Her and her receptionist then tried to run me through the ringer to get an unnecessary sonogram. Purposely misdiagnosing me so that I can come in for an appointment that AGAIN was not necessary. As patients, we are allowed to advocate for ourselves and remember we do indeed understand our bodies deeply. I knew exactly what needed assistance in my case. When I told the receptionist 2 weeks before the initial appointment, I emphasized I needed medication sooner rather than later. They provide poor customer service at this establishment. I was able to be serviced and provided with medication at another gynecologist within 3 days of seeking this person out. Please save your time, money and energy.

Dr. Lockhart is very surgery happy , doesn't confirm diagnosis with test

I have been a patient of Dr. Lockhart for many years. She is a caring and loving person. She doesn't rush through her exams. Afterwards she sits down and talks to you about staying healthy. She shows her concern like she's family or a friend. On November 23, 2003 she delivered my daughters baby. My daughter had a risky pregnancy and she practically saved her life. That was an emotional day for our family. She put our minds at ease. She showed profthatesssionalism on that day. I have never forgotten that day. Thank You Dr. Lockhart for being YOU.
