Dr. Maria Steil, MD

Maria Steil, MD brings her passion for patient-focused care and surgical artistry to The Iowa Clinic Plastic Surgery department. With a background in both private practice and academic medicine, Dr. Steil felt that TIC was the best place to focus on providing exceptional patient care within a physician-led organization. As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Steil enjoys the opportunity to work on every part of the body with every type of patient. From intricate facial reconstructions to body enhancements, Dr. Steil finds reward in her work after helping her patients achieve a goal they have longed for.

An Iowa native, Dr. Steil attended the University of Iowa for medical school and later completed her residency at The University of Texas Medical Branch. As part of her training in residency, Dr. Steil completed a rotation at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where she spent time learning reconstructive surgery. She also spent time at Shriners Burn Institute, where she trained in both acute burns and burn …reconstruction in children.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family, baking, crafting, painting, and sewing. Besides plastic surgery, Dr. Steil might have pursed facial prosthetics to help patients who may have experienced loss due to a traumatic injury or cancer.
