was very pleased with my experience at Wilmot Primary Care. I can be a hard critic of primary care places and the people employed by them. Combine that attitude with an innate crankiness when I’m not feeling at all well and the result can be much less than pleasant. This time (My first time at Wilmot Primary Care) was a world away from previous experiences elsewhere. It was good to be treated with professionalism and care. When I say the Dr Pina and all the other employees of the Wilmot Primary Care made me feel that I was in safe hands and even made me smile when I left, then you can believe they are the best. I am truly grateful and won’t get that awful feeling of dread the next time I get sick and am unable to see my own physician. I appreciated their follow-up and willingness to answer questions also. A big thank you to all of them.”

Even though Dr. Piña may be a satisfactory doctor, she allows her medical assistance to treat her patients disrespectfully. When we told Dr. Piña how her incompetent assistant, Yvette, refused to send referrals to specialists or respond to our sister’s assisted living facility ‘s nurse and pharmacy, she excused her by saying she had personal problems. Later, she said that Yvette reported to the Office Manager not to her. The office manager said the medical assistants were not under her. It seems as though this office is allowing the medical assistants to run the office on their own since Yvette was giving our sister’s nurse medical information that should only be communicated by a doctor. Yvette has been rude, unprofessional, and incompetent throughput the few months our sister has been a patient of Dr. Piña’s. We found a more professional provider however, even though our sister’s new provider requested her medical records almost a month ago, Yvette won’t send them. She… has now gotten into the habit of hanging up on us when we call asking for out sister’s medical records. If we could sue for malpractice for allowing such a jerk to be a medical assistant, we would. Find another doctor if you have to deal with Yvette.

We had been referred by a friend to see Dr. Pina. We called the Wilmot Primary Group to make an appointment. The office staff informed us that we couldn't make an appointment until we had filled out the “new patient packets,” even though the appointment would be months away. I asked if they could be emailed. The young lady said no. When I asked "why not," as it is only a blank packet with no medical information, she didn't have an answer. She explained that it had to be faxed. I don't have access to a fax. The alternative was to pick them up, which I attempted to do one day while I was near the office. Got there at 12:10 p.m. and the office was closed for lunch; doors locked and shades pulled. Returned at their allotted opening time and when I walked in and asked for the packets, the young lady at the desk pointed past me across the ever-so-empty waiting area to a small table where the packets were kept. As I was walking out, she stopped me and told me to follow the… instructions on the cover of the packet, i.e., that the packets could only be dropped off on certain days and only at certain times, afternoons I believe. Regardless, the days and times were not convenient to me and I felt like I shouldn’t have to go out of my way, the prospective patient, so, I returned the packets to the table where I retrieved them and haven't been back. No kind greeting, and very much “you’re bothering me” attitudes from the two at the front desk. I get the impression that nobody in this group cares about obtaining new patients. Therefore, I'm not one of them. I have since found a much friendlier, kinder, willing practice. Good Luck! P.S. In fairness to Dr. Pina, I never had a chance to even speak with her; I couldn't get in to the office to meet her, but this practice needs to be informed of their unprofessional and uncaring attitude toward potential patients. Too many good doctors in Tucson to choose from.

This is my first ever review on any doctor I have seen. Unfortunately it’s a terrible review. First off her staff and assistant are very rude, poor listeners, and can never seem to help get anything done. If they do something it’s on there schedule. God forbid you need something rushed. Also there are several doctors and several assistants, and front office staff that are apart of the Wilmont Primary Care group, however if the doctor or assistant you are assigned to are out of the office the other staff will not help you. My last two primary care physicians are apart of groups and if your doctor or assistant are out the other employees would always help. Now onto Doctor Pina, I went to see her in regards to severe breathing issues and a sinus infection. She would not listen all she would tell me is I need to lose weight. I know that but this does not help my infection. After 45 minutes of arguing she finally got me an inhaler. I then needed her to send a prescription for a new CPAP… machine because mine broke and I haven’t been sleeping. Turns out the prescription she sent to Perfered health was incomplete. I called her assistant and she said we haven’t heard anything and that she would call them on Monday, this was Friday. She knew I had not sleeved in over a week. She would not let me speak, she just kept interrupted me and said she was leaving. Horrible service. There are many other issues I had with the doctor and staff with the two visits I was there.
