Dr. Mariam Mathai, MD

Dr. Mathai is excellent! She was able to see me and perform the procedure to correct my issue on very short notice. She diagnosed my issue, explained the cause, the corrective action that needed to be taken, and performed the procedure well. She has very good skills and was very considerate and compassionate during the course the laser procedure. I recommend her with high marks.

As a new patient, my experience was positive. Dr. Mathai was knowledgeable, thorough and communicated my diagnosis and instructions clearly. She gave full attention to what I was saying. I felt comfortable with her examination. I feel that I can trust her to give me wise advice about my medical condition. The entire office staff was professional, courteous, and skilled. I highly recommend.

As a health care professional~My experience with Wet AMD diagnosis and best practice treatment with Dr M is as perfect as a shot in the eye can possibly be! I am very impressed and comforted with her technique, explanations and descriptions of my condition as well as her answers to ANY questions I have. The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and flexible as I was late to my appointment. Dr. Mathai was able to do a thorough exam to follow up on a previous ocular concern. She also explained things in understandable terms. The office was clean, orderly, and calming.

Just a great doctor and experience with repairing my torn retina, she has a nice touch and always considering the patients pain levels. She explains in details any process from the beginning to the end which I appreciate to better understand what has happen and how my recovery will be especially with a sensitive area such as the human eye. As long as she's in the DC area she will be my retina doctor.

Good doctor (so far) - BAD OFFICE STAFF It was my first meeting with Dr. Mathai - overall, she took time, explained things, answered questions. She was also apologetic for the long wait I had. So far, so good, back in 6 months. My experience with the RGW OFFICE STAFF was not good AT ALL. I waited 2 hours (as did many others that day), they overbooked people, didn't communicate well, and I heard one of the receptionists say that "all the patients were giving her a headache"! If my next experience with the RGW office staff isn't radically better, I won't be going back.
