My goal is to help patients with brain and spine tumors understand their treatment options. I aim to help patients and their families feel informed and supported when making decisions about their care. I want to make sure their treatment matches their goals and values. Sometimes this includes surgery. Other times, it may mean watching the tumor closely with scans or focusing on comfort rather than treatment. Education is an important first step in excellent care. I help my patients understand how their tumors affect their health, daily activities, and care. Because I work in both the hospital and clinic, I can provide my patients with consistent support throughout their treatment journey. As a physician assistant (PA) in the Neuro-Oncology Program, I work as part of a team of specialists. Together, we strive to deliver the most advanced care while helping patients maintain their quality of life. I value working at a medical center that offers clinical trials. I have seen firsthand how …these trials can improve patient care and outcomes. My path to this field began when my mother was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder. During my education, I became fascinated by how the brain works, responds to disease or injury, and heals. Helping patients as they first learn of their diagnosis requires clear communication, patience, and compassion. I first developed these skills while working as an elementary educator before becoming a PA, and I continue to develop them every day. Outside of work, I am learning the art of jewelry metal smithing. Reading fantasy novels is relaxing, and walking in the woods is restorative.
