Dr. Eugene is a gift to her profession. I feel that I am truly being cared for now. Her office staff are responsive as well.

I'm shocked by the negative reviews here and felt compelled to balance the scales. My 24-year-old son has suffered with epilepsy since he was about 12, with the symptoms worsening in recent years. Following two particularly frightening seizures this year, he was referred to UConn Health's Neurology group and an appointment was set with Dr. Eugene. It takes a LONG time to get an appointment with a physician in this group. I would say that is only negative. The severity of the most recent seizure made us particularly anxious and waiting a month to see the doctor didn't ease those tensions. However, we ultimately decided it was worth the wait. Dr. Eugene is exceptionally thorough. She took my son's full 12-year history. She explained everything thoroughly. She was great at listening and fantastic at explaining. She was patient, allowing us plenty of time to ask questions. She offered several treatment options, explaining the pros and cons of each. Epileptics live a life where they… know they could lose control over their minds and bodies at any time. Being allowed to participate in identifying the course of treatment gave my son a sense of control, which is huge. We left her office feeling reassured and comforted. Dr. Eugene had carefully listened and thoughtfully diagnosed his condition and we felt confident she was pointing us in the right direction.

Dr. Eugene and her team of residents at the Uconn Neurology Department have gone far below anything that I could have ever expected from a staff of medical professionals. This team at Uconn has failed miserably at doing their jobs in caring for my wife. We chose Uconn Neurology so they could communicate directly with Uconn OBGYN ( which is amazing) but they have failed to work together. At the beginning of my wife's pregnancy, Blood tests were supposed to be taken regularly in order to prevent seizures while being pregnant. This office was only successful in scheduling one blood test throughout 32 weeks of pregnancy. Due to the lack of patient care, my wife suffered a seizure which could have caused serious injury or death to her and my soon to be born son. This happened because blood tests were never ordered, medications were not properly adjusted, and the staff just plain failed at doind their due diligence. For the sake of keeping yourself or family healthy, avoid this Neurolgy… staff by all means possible. I cannot wait until my son is born so we can switch doctors. I wouldnt recommend this facility to anyone.

Dr. Eugene takes forever to get back to you, you wait on hold for the receptionist for 15min (I'm not lying!), it's impossible to get an appointment if its urgent, she never listens to what you have to say and frankly doesn't care either. They're office is so disorganized and no one there cares, it's not a big deal to them if your having a crisis, it's not their problem. When I came across this website I was actually looking for a new doctor, and thought that I better write a review so that no one has to go through what I did.
