Dr. Marietta J Medel, MD

At first, I was leery because of the reviews. My initial visit, Dr. Medel didn't seem very personable. She kept looking over my symptoms, typing collecting information and did a neuro assessment. She scheduled me for testing and f/u visit. At my F/U appt. She went over the results. Was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and more than competent. She was very concerned about and for me regarding my results. I even told her I almost didn't come to her because of her reviews. She smiled and stated, " Some like me, and some don't." I would definitely recommend her to others.

I was referred to Dr Medel by my former neuro who was moving. At first she was good to work with. But as time passed she became more unpleasant with each visit—often forgetting what we had discussed at the last appt, even with notes in front of her. She became angry and actually yelled when I said the Keppra she had put me on wasn’t working and I couldn’t handle the side effects. It’s as if her only purpose is to wipe a slate clean (eliminate seizures/auras) and doesn’t care if she’s using damaging substances to do so.

I have been going to Dr. Medel for a couple years, she has always been good to me, never rude. She has greatly helped me manage my migraines! Haven't been to the ER since my treatment with her.

Always in a rush and assumes too many things. Not a good listener.

I am a patient of Dr Medel. I have been for almost two years. Never once has she been rude to me and has always took time to listen to me. Maybe the people writing negative comments should work on THEIR people skills.

Agree with other reviews. She couldn't care less about her patients. She was mad at my other doctors. Would say bad things about my other docs. Would not listen to me. Very cold hearted. Needs to retire. Had Me in tears. I went elsewhere after several appts with her. I tried sticking it put but it was a waste of time...she would so nothing for me. Worst ever!

First visit.only complained about what other Dr had done for me. Refused to help with only but one medication and trouble.near tears.second visit recanted what was said about a medication decided she could help.after claiming I misunderstood her.even though she hadn't helped before. Claimed coldly my chiari was cure through decompression so that wasn't causing my headaches. First I never sugessted it was chiari second.glad to know chiari now has a cure.not a bandage. Family Dr sent MRIs of very serious syringemelia for her to help with since she is a neurologist. Told me"I'm not doing nothing with this,I didn't order the MRI. I can maybe send u to neurons surgeon,but I didn't order them he did.he needs to take care of it.even though he's only a family physician..she is extremely cold. I will be moving my records a soon as I can!

Dr. Medel's first words to me were ''why are you here?" Her concern was that I was wasting her time. She did not listen to anything I had to say and had me in tears before leaving her office. She really needs to work on her Dr / patient relationship skills. She seemed dismissive of my Cardiologist and his reasons for recommending a neurological professional. She repeated more than once that I was wasting her time. She did, however, hand me a box of tissues when I began to cry.
