Dr. Maris F Macintyre, MD

Switching to Dr. McIntyre was one of the best choices we've made for our child with adhd. She is so patient and loving with our kiddo and always treated us all with respect. I got so tired of being treated like I was imagining all of my child's reactions to the meds she was on. When we started seeing Dr. McIntyre she told me they were common side effects of the meds and shouldn't have been brushed aside. She has never blown off my concerns whether I bring them up at an appointment or I call. And she never tries to rush our appointments. Its comforting knowing we have someone solidly in our corner when most people just want to turn my kid into a zombie. I can tell she is genuinely concerned for our wellbeing and isn't just one of those doctors doing it for the money. I'm so happy we found her!

Dr. Mcintyre is largely responsible for the fact I am alive today. I used to joke that she was bad luck because I never had health issues until I started seeing her. Of course she was only the messenger, but she always made sure I was connected with the best physical care available for whatever was going on. In the late fall of 2014 I started having excruciating back pain, and because Dr. Mcintyre works part time I had to see an array of her colleagues, who while all well intentioned, were way off in the various diagnosis’s. One day she invited me in to have one of her students perform an adjustment, and it was then she realized something was very wrong, though she didn’t let on at that point. She no longer wanted to focus on my back. She sent me out for an MRI because I told her an ill advised visit to the Chiropractor felt as though it had snapped something. She asked me about night sweats and chills, check and check, and handed me a kit saying “this time you are having your… blood checked.” She called me the next day at work and told me my MRI was relatively normal for my age, but that my blood was “wonky.” She sent me directly to the hospital for additional work and while I was in the car called to have me get a CAT scan. I took the barium back to work, got the CAT scan on my way home, and by the time Modern Family was starting I received a call from her telling me I had lesions all over my bones. She wanted me to get up and get directly to the hospital. She had already spoken with an Oncologist colleague who was on vacation, and I ridiculously convinced myself I could wait. The next morning I couldn’t even dry myself getting out of the shower and knew I had to get to the hospital. My phone was ringing at that very moment and it was Dr. Mcintyre with the message “I can’t have you wait, you have to go in now.” As it turned out I ended up with an Oncologist from the same office who I would have picked anyway. My diagnosis, final stage (Stage 3) Multiple Myeloma. I spent the next couple of weeks in the hospital fighting for my life at the stage it was discovered, and having back surgery as well. Dr. Mcintyre even came to visit, bringing ice-cream to my room and staying with me for hours. She had been my general doctor for about 3-4 years at that point, and became my doctor because the doctor in her office originally referred to me was unavailable. I’m thankful it worked out that way. She is very practical and straightforward person, with a dry sense of humor. I have always found her to be charming, but very professional. She is a VERY caring person, and good luck trying to convince me otherwise. Why anyone would see a doctor they don’t care for for three years is beyond me. Since my diagnosis we become close, but how could we not. I feel comfortable assuring you how fortunate you would be to have her as your doctor. I know it’s not just special treatment for me either, because I was not the greatest of patients early on in our relationship, and she always handled my issues with the right amount of humor and professionalism. I adore her, my wife switched to her and adores her, and I have a hunch you will too.

I had chosen Dr. Maris McIntyre, Do after reading all the outstanding reviews online places like ZocDoc. I don’t know what has changed but she is not attentive, caring or understanding. I’ve been with her for over 3 years and have always dreaded having to make an appointment. I thought perhaps she was having a bad day or that I was never giving her a fair chance. She never within all the times I have seen her made me feel welcomed or understood. If you are looking for someone who genuinely cares about your health and needs. I would not recommend her I have never felt so unheard with a doctor before. She was always very quick to dismiss any issue or concerns that I had. Even when other doctors raised concerns she would essentially roll her eyes and say “You are fine.” It took me a very long time to leave her but this was the last straw. Her student doctors always did a better job and even would look uncomfortable when they would see how quick and dismissive she was. I don’t know if it… was because of my race but is surely did feel like that she seemed to care more for her other patients. If you ever feel like someone isn’t the match for you don’t try to wait it out.
