Dr. Marisa Raquel Gadea, MD

Dr. Gadea has been the PCP for my kids, since we moved to East Cobb in 2011. She is not only a great professional but an incredible human being. She will take the time that is required to examine your child, to make sure she has explored all the areas and options to know what you child may be facing. She gets to know your child by name, and will make phone calls, even if you are in a foreign country, to make sure your child is doing better or to provide extra support, when required. She cares about you, as an individual. My children and I were very blessed to meet her and have her as our pediatrician.

We have been Dr. Gadea's patients for two years now. I completely agree with the long wait times at this office, however, I cannot see Dr. Gadea being rude and unprofessional. She is very playful with the children and makes them feel comfortable and at ease. I could see her playfully tapping the reflex tool on a child's head little to be silly perhaps. She has been very knowledgeable, takes her time...she's not a one foot in one foot out the door doctor, she's sensitive, and the kids love her. I just wish we could see her all the time, and not just for well visits but also sick visits. Unfortunately it's such a large practice we rarely see her on the sick visits too. I would definitely recommend her though and had to post just because the other review made no sense to me.

Both my kids go to East Cobb Pediatric but I don't think I'll take them there any more. Here are a few reasons: 1. I had to wait for an hour for the doctor to come see my son and the office was empty, no one else was there but us. The wait time is always long and it's absurd to know that there is no one else but you yet you have to wait that long! 2. The doctor was very rude and unprofessional. Her name was Marisa Gadea, very hard to understand her accent but that's not the point. She was examining my son but took the reflex hammer and banged it to my daughter's head! Really? She needs to lose her license to practice medicine for using medical tools for things other than medical necessity. Those hammers are hard and hurt your head. My daughter told me that her head hurt and how hard she hit it on her head. The point is what she did was very unprofessional and abusive regardless of hurting or not hurting. 3. She hit the same hammer to my son's knee where he had an open wound;… acute injury. I'm a professional doctor myself and I know how to use tailor reflex hammer and you definitely do not use it for banging on someone's else (because it's not funny) and you don't hit it where you have an acute injury even if you have to check the reflexes. She did not check other reflexes of lower extremity and none of the upper extremity reflexes which is fine because my son is healthy but she most certainly should not have checked his patella (knee) reflex. 4. She was arguing with me in a rude way about something she had very little knowledge about. 5. Receptionist were very rude and not welcoming. I hope that would help you make a decision not to take your child there because there are many good pediatric offices and great doctors out there to take your children to.
