Dr. Maritza Marie Suarez, MD

She’s an excellent Dr., bright, intellect, compassionate, dedicate for the well-being of the patient. I highly recommend Dr Suarez.

I selected Dr. Suarez based on her great five-star reviews and my previous excellent experience at UM Health, but my appointment with her was the worst. First, I was placed in an unventilated waiting room with a highly contagious patient who was coughing and sneezing into the air (she was not covering her mouth nor was she wearing the mask she'd been given nor was the waiting room being monitored in any way). After about an hour and 20 minutes I was called in. Dr. Suarez did NOT introduce herself. She did not greet me. She simply looked at her computer and said, "So Ms. [not my name], why are you here?" I said "I'm not Ms. [not my name]" and she quickly adjusted. Then she started looking at my old labs (I had purposely not had labs because I wanted to talk to her first. She still did not look up from the computer. I tried to engage her in some conversation with limited success, then I tried to talk to her about some of my issues, including trouble sleeping (it was a very… difficult time for me). Her solution: take Benadryl (she neglected to notice that I already took an Allegra every day) and probably four or five hours was enough sleep for me. Needless to say my first visit was my last, but it made me really sad (this was honestly the first time I'd experienced this) to see a doctor for whom I was merely a name in a time slot who couldn't even talk to me without seeing numbers from a lab report. I know, sadly, that too much medicine is practiced this way, but for me, I'll make the effort to see doctors who treat me as a person.

Dr Suarez has shown to be a caring doctor who takes the time necessary to know her patient. She is perceptive and asks the right questions to understand all issues affecting the patients well being.
