Dr. Mark Homer Balabanis, PhD

I knew this therapist for 18 years and I thought he was great in the beginning, probably the same as any other patient. Over the years, he treated me for a particular diagnosis that he claimed I had. When I would visit for a follow-up, he always insisted that was the problem and routinely pushed the same treatment plan. I would study, do my exercises, learn everything I could as I was a dedicated student. Yet the problem did not seem like it was truly being addressed and something felt wrong, but he always insisted those feelings were due to my diagnosis. Well this resulted in many years of my life and thousands of dollars wasted! Ultimately, two other psychologists who are even more specialized than he is provided the correct underlying diagnosis and treatment that actually worked. Furthermore, I personally witnessed several instances of inappropriate and unethical behavior which were very disturbing to me. When all of this was reviewed by professional colleagues, they deemed his… conduct to be harmful and absolutely unacceptable. Please be aware that if you still choose to work with him, document everything that happens in and out of sessions, including phone calls, and confirm that he does the same.
