Dr. Mark Barter, MD

I have been a patient of Dr Mark Barter for a number of years, and I have found Dr Barter to listen and respond with necessary information. He has properly diagnosed my problem where others have failed. The very different personal service is always appreciated. At the end of his day he calls to give information received on xrays and blood tests personally and answer any questions I may have regarding same. I recommend him to anyone that needs a GOOD endocrinologist. Margie Jackson

Dr. Barter is smart, patient, and straight to the point. He has been so helpful in getting my thyroid under control. The symptoms of hypo or hyper thyroid can wreck your body, and he's helped to relieve them. Thank you, Doctor! He's sweet and kind too. He's a great guy.

Dr. Barter is very attentive & thorough. He has made two phone calls to me to talk about findings of lab tests. This was not done through an assistant. He truly gives personalized service showing he truly cares about YOU! He consults with you in his office then takes you to the examining room to do the “vitals” himself....again, no assistant. I appreciate his involvement from start to finish. No computer notes for him, he writes everything down. I like this. Plus, he is very knowledgeable & serious about getting to the root of the problem & in treating the problems. Great doctor. You can tell he is passionate about his profession & is someone who is very smart, well informed, & cares about his patients. He listens & takes his time with patients. This is my 3rd endocrinologist & I wish I had found him from the start instead of wasting time on the first two who were terrible!

Dr. Barter is not friendly at all and he is very rude

Very good doctor. Knows exactly what he is talking about. Very busy Doctor, because there is not many in the area that specialize in endocrinology. Yes, he is older, that's why he has many patients, because they trust him as I do. Staff is friendly. If you go to the clinic and treat them with disrespect, maybe that's why you come and give bad rating. Receptionist don't get there till 8am, first opening is at 7am. So if Doctor takes you in, without co-paying, rest assured as soon as receptionist gets there, will ask for co-pay.. Because YOU KNOW YOU HAVE TO PAY IT, and they are just doing their job!!!!

Dr.Barter was highly knowledgeable, and took the time to actually do an exam and listen. Those qualities have all but gone away! Not only does he listen he actually has a personality!

Dr. Barter and his receptionist were both very rude. The receptionist wasn't even there when I first showed up for my appt. then barked at me for my copay at the end when she finally showed up. Dr. Barter rudely asked me why I scheduled an appt with him (I was referred by my primary Dr. because I tested positive for thyroid antibodies and I've been having trouble swallowing, & there is family history of thyroid cancer & benign tumors) he barked at me also, saying I have an autoimmune thyroid disease, so what? He can't do anything for me. Yes, that is exactly how he said it. He did order an ultrasound for me, but only after my insistence. Won't ever go back to him. In my opinion, he needs to retire. He's a terrible doctor.

Dr. Barter was a referral from my PCP after tests showed hormonal levels my PCP was uncomfortable diagnosing. Don't know WHAT they were thinking. I'm not fond of going to the doctor (man thing), but I am fairly proactive with my heath when I'm sure there is an issue and am quite capable of understanding medical terminology. My diagnosis was explained to me like I was a complete idiot. To his credit he did diagnose a tumor on my pituitary gland that was severely affecting hormone levels, confirmed with an MRI and got me on a starting dose of meds. However, after throwing meds at me, followup has been non-existent. I am still on the initial dose of meds after 10 months and I'm feeling like crap again so I requested my records be sent to another endocrinologist. When I called the office to make the request, they asked why I was changing doctors. I told them that I felt that the level of communication and follow up I have received was inadequate. (and no, I wasn't an A-hole about it.) It… was then that I got attitude from the staff. As a doctor, Dr. Barter is competent, but he is totally "old school". Doctor knows best, no communication, patient is unable to comprehend medical issues, wait and see attitude, ZERO office technology. I am going elsewhere.

I was sent to Dr. Barter, from my primary Dr. Really!! I wish I would of read these reviews before I made an app. At my visit, he was unfriendly, uninterested in helping me. Made me feel like I was wasting his time, like I had a scratched knee. He asked me some questions, then asked me what level of levothyroxin I wanted to be on. Threw me a prescription. Said I'll see you in 6 mo. I was so upset, and angry by the way I was treated. In disbelief. I turned him into my ibs. Co. For incompatcare. Yes he is very......old needs to retire. I agree with all the negative responses. Sooooo true! Omg, I told my primary Dr. What had Happend, told her it was a waste of my time and my copayment. Funny how I received my copayment back in the mail.hmmmmmm.

I went to see Dr. Barter a while back and yes, he is a very rude person and so is his staff. The office was a total mess and looked very dirty and so was the examining room. He gave me a gown that looked filthy, everything was old and dirty and he didn't hear what I had to say about my symptoms, in his report he wrote something different that wasn't true as to what I was feeling. I went to a different endocrinologist and it was fine. I would not recommend him at all.
