Dr. Mark Avery Blackwelder, MD

The appointment was arranged by a specialist. He didn't know why I'd be there even after I explained. I knew right away he knew nothing about my medication's effects or he wouldn't need to ask me. He talked at me and over me not with me. It was as though he had a prepared speech for a similar topic. Interesting thing about prepared speeches, they don't fit individual needs. I was smart not to take what he prescribed as I knew the ones I take are rather extreme. I was correct. Not with current prescriptions or medical history should I take it. I don't trust doctor's that don't listen and it is wise on my part.

After a search for a good internal medicine doctor to work with me and my diabetic husband, I decided to give Dr. Blackwelder a chance. Boy, am I glad that I did. From the first moment of introduction, Dr. Blackwelder made eye contact, shook my hand, and sat down to talk with me and find out why I was there. For the first time in a long time, I had found a physician that actually "saw" me as a person, not just a number.I found Dr. Blackwelder to be thorough in his examination of both my person and my entire medical history. He was accurate in his diagnosis of my problems, and followed up (through his nurse) to let me know test results and treatment as they were reported.He was kind, professional, and actually seemed to care about my success in managing my long-term health.I found his staff to be very considerate and competent. All in all, this was a very good experience and I am proud to count myself a "fan" of Dr. Blackwelder.
