Dr. Mark James Buehler, MD

Dr Buehler failed to come to the hospital when called at home by a nurse. He prescribed sleeping med over the phone. As a result I’m scheduled for my 14th surgery.

Very thorough with questions and exam. Actually listened to my concerns and addressed them. I left the appointment feeling very confident About everything. My surgery Went great and from my first appointment up to my surgery and even afterward the staff from Dr Buehler’s office and everyone at the plaza surgery center were amazing. I could tell they enjoy working together and cared about m as an individual. They even sen me home with a sincere thank you card. I have already had two follow up calls checking in on me??

After reading some of these reviews I was more than a little concerned about making an appt with Dr Mark Buehler. I even went so far as to call my GP (trusted implicitly) to get his opinion on the man. I had my appt this morning and the front desk was kind, considerate and friendly. The nurse was friendly, informative and caring. Dr Buehler himself was friendly, professional and informative. He took all the time needed to make sure I knew exactly what my options were and what the expected outcomes were for each. In all I loved the man! Based on this mornings appt I would highly recommend Dr Buehler!

I had an awful experience with this provider. I got a ganglion cyst and my PCP referred me to this doctor. I called and made an appointment, fully explaining the reasons for it. A few weeks later I showed up to my appointment. I waited 45 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment time and then I was taken back to the exam room. Dr. Buehler comes in and without even so much as a greeting, he told me that he doesn't treat ganglion cysts. Okay fine, but it would have been nice if the receptionists or someone along the line of communication would have found some way to communicate this to me as to not waste my time and money. I'm pretty sure they don't care much about their patients. When I called to talk about the bill I received, the lady in the billing department was so rude to me. Since he didn't actually examine me or talk to me, I figured that was that and I couldn't possibly be charged to NOT be seen, right? NOPE. My portion of the bill after insurance was 130 bucks. So this guy got… paid to say that he won't treat me without even so much as examining me. He didn't look at my hand or ask me any questions and made hundreds of dollars for a less than 20 second interaction. So dishonest. I advise you go elsewhere.

I found Dr. Bulher incredibly rude, condescending and someone I would never recommend. I plan to write a letter of complaint to my primary care physician who referred me to him but also to Providence in general. I had an accident and broke both hands through no fault on my own and he was so demeaning once he found out I was trying to settle on my claim. Treated me like white trash and I'm a very well paid professional and his parting comment to me was "this is what society created".

Years ago I was referred to him for a broken wrist. He put a cast on it and I thought be seemed to be a fine doctor. Months after the recovery I developed a clicking sensation in the same hand when I closed he. I went back to him and he insisted it was carpal tunnel syndrome (probably because he knew I was a software developer). He put me through the somewhat painful carpal tunnel test. I knew it was not carpal tunnel so I asked my GP for a different doctor. The next doctor actually listened to me, examined my hand, and found I had a fibroma in the palm of my hand. (I seriously doubt it was related to the broken wrist.) He performed surgery to remove it and I have been fine ever since. All Buehler had to do was listen to me, and examine my hand, and he would have discovered the fibroma, but he failed to do so. If I could give him less than one star I would.

As a retired professional with my share of injuries I made my appointment with Dr. Buehler based on my primary care recommendation. They were great about getting me in on short notice and warned it would be a tight day for the Dr. I was in an exam room reasonably quick given the circumstances, but only after hearing another patient in the waiting room complain of being kept waiting over an hour and then some more. Dr. Buehler was obviously rushed that day.. he was short, seemingly impatient, disinterested, dismissive and asked few questions about how the injury effected daily life, sleep, etc. He quickly dismissed the prior reading of my MRI and simply said I had tennis elbow and it could take up to two years to heal and acted as if he was waiting for me to leave once he told me to do nothing but put up with the pain. After my wife and I asked multiple questions for clarification, follow up, etc and were met with short one word answers just we gave up.. at this time he oddly… volunteered to show me the MRI of my arm and then again, quietly waited for me to leave.. We were in disbelief of the lack of bedside manner or genuine care for the problem and patient. I'll get the second opinion, but would not recommend this guy to anyone.. more power to you if you're the few that had a good experience.. I'm sure he's technically competent... he just needs to get over the god-doc complex.

I went to Dr Bueler for radial head surgery. I was in agony for weeks after surgery and after repeat follow-up visits and pleading for pain management he flat out denied me any prescription relief. I went to my primary physician who helped me with Gabapenten, metaloxin and hydrocodone. In days my pain was managed and I could work again. I didn't need a second script - that took care of it. He made me feel like a drug seeking loser and all I needed was help getting through post surgical pain. How an orthopedic surgeon can be so uneducated about legitimate pain management is beyond me. I can't tell much difference in my elbow. Maybe slightly more arm extension but if I had to do it over again with him, never in a million years. I'm filing a complaint with the medical board.

I was referred to him by my doctor. Without asking me any questions, he told me I had arthritis, and how my pain felt (constant throb after working with it all day). When I told him No, it was a sharp pain, and only when I try to bend my finger, he acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. He said he's been doing this for a lot of years. I did not like him at all, and would not recommend him to anybody
