Dr. Mark Vernon Buzzard, MD

I was a patient for close to 20 years. Never been able to find another doctor even close to his level of intelligence, knowledge and competency. I wish he would continue practicing.

Dr. Buzzard is one of a kind! He treats your entire person, mind, body and soul! I'll never be able to replace him and I'd bet no one else will either. I've lost my very best friend! He centers and grounds me. Now how could I ever expect to find one like him? I won't and I am grieving! I've been with him for over fifteen years and I'll go to the end of my life because of him! I HURT FOR YOU!!

I was a patient of Dr. Buzzard's for years, trusted him and thought he cared. Then I get a call that his office is permanently closed...no explanation, no opportunity to pick up my records, no one even answering the phone. More importantly, no consideration of respect. What are all of us supposed to do when he abandons his practice with no medication continuation, no referrals, no decency. Something deeply shady is going on there, and he's clearly not man enough to be honest and tell his patients what's going on, or try to help us on his way out. Shame on you, Doctor Buzzard.

Dr. Buzzard's office just called me to say they are permanently closed and I need to find a new doctor as soon as possible... just what I wanted to do this time of year, more stressful shopping!

I've been seeing Dr Buzzard since he was an intern. and he is always kind and accommodating to me. he never pushes drugs unless we discuss together the pros and cons of the drug. I was hospitalized 3 times for hurting myself and he stuck by me through all that time. I like him so much that I do recommend him to others. on the negative side I don't like he does not take insurance but I do understand why which is complicated. he has never push drugs on me but then I am a conscientious patient and take control of my own treatment with Dr Buzzard supporting me. I am his oldest patient now and have changed offices with him several times. he has been nothing except wonderful to me. if you can afford him, he is worth it. I am where of his probation and have researched other psychiatrists and have found that most of them have at least 1 probationary experience their record so I am NOT concerned.

A nice, experienced doctor who really does seem to care for the most part about helping you feel your best. Those without insurance, beware: This doctor no longer accepts any type of insurance whatsoever. He's up front about this though. The one thing I find very odd about his system of billing though is this: You will be charged based on your level of "intensity," which is determined by the duration of your appointment, the number of diagnoses you have, and the number of prescriptions you require. I can certainly understand charging more or less depending on the length of the appointment, but I find the pricing by diagnoses and prescriptions to be incredibly odd and somewhat inappropriate. Should he not just figure that into his overall cost of running the practice? Making appointments is easy as long as you do it far enough in advance. Getting prescriptions filled can be a nightmare with his very disorganized staff. The doctor himself is good though.

Dr Buzzard is a very smart competent doctor and doesn't give up on his patients where other doctors will. I guess he is so good that he is in such demand that sometimes it is hard to get an appointment for 2 - 3 weeks. He also doesn't drag his feet on changing medicines.
