Dr. Mark S Cheiken, DO

Dr. Cheiken is a wonderful doctor, very personable. He is very professional, explained everything going on with me in detail and how he was treating it. As a younger patient (38), I never expected to go to a dermatology office for skin cancer. Now I know I need to be even more vigilant about sun exposure. I appreciate getting a doctor like him. Thanks!!!

Since I was concerned about several places on my skin, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Cheiken at Kaiser in Santa Rosa to have them checked out. Throughout the years, I've had several basel cell carcinoma's removed, as well as numerous actinic keratosis. I found Dr. Cheiken to be personable, professional and efficient. My concerns in reference to the spots on my were thankfully unwarranted. Dr. Cheiken was unrushed and took the time to explain things. I feel lucky - another good Kaiser doctor to see throughout the coming years.

Excellent doctor. He does not rush in and out and takes the time to explain what needs to be done.

This is a word of warning, more so than a rating. I did not see the doctor - I did not get that far - so the overall rating is intended to be neutral. However, Dr Mark S. Cheiken and his practice requires you to write down your Social Security number, in addition to photocopy of your driver's license and insurance card. Further, if your insurance is through another person, they will require you to supply that person's Social Security information as well. They will not provide you with treatment if you refuse. From what I can gather, there is no legal requirement for this collection. And if you do provide it, there is an increased risk of identity theft. I stated to staff that I would have liked to have known about this at time of appointment, but staff tried to claim that "just like a bank" this was required. For obvious reasons, a doctor's office does not bear comparison to a bank. And there was no risk of non payment, as payment is required at time of visit. Personally, I… find little comfort in a doctor's office that shows such little regard for you when you when you raise the issue of identity theft. So If identity theft is something that concerns you, you may want to consider this information before you visit.

Rude and unprofessional staff and thishas to emulate from the Doctor. I hadsomething removed while there, the doctorsaw one little thing and said he couldfreeze it for me.....5 seconds....he didnot say there was and extra charge.....hecharged medicare $150, I challenged the charge and they said it was not fair butmedicare allows them to do it.....I saidI don't. This is an admitted scam ofmedicare.....never go to this doctor.And he wrote me a letter dismissing meas a patient......this staff and thisact was rude.....you ask for fairness andthey dismiss you as a patient....I haveturned this in to medicare.

I MET WITH TIFFANY WHO IS THE MOST HONEST, POLITE, SWEET DOCTOR...SHE TAKES HER TIME WITH YOU, VERY VERY NICE AND PROFFESIONAL

Dr. Cheiken could have spared me years of discomfort if he had diagnosed me correctly. He missed 2 conditions - one on my face - one on my neck, so it's not like they were hidden. Also, I had a blackhead that was quite large. He wanted to remove it surgically and told me I'd have a scar .5 to 1" long. I opted out of the procedure and one month later the blackhead came out on its own and has never come back some 3 years later! Find another dermatologist!

I had a cyst on my face and was given a few options on how to treat it, I decided to get it surgically removed, the procedure was pretty quick and I was in the know about everything great doctor amazing with stitches would recommend to anyone.

I had a a squamous cell carcinoma on my leg that had been examined by another doctor and I was told it was okay. Dr. Cheiken diagnosed it correctly and removed the cancer. He is very through in by 6 month exams.
