Dr. Deneau was amazing! He was so kind and knowledgeable about my son’s inflammatory bowel disease, which couldn’t get remission despite two other doctors. He outlined all of the possible treatment options. He explained the pros and cons of surgery and medicines. He spoke mostly to my son, at his level and explains everything to him and involved hum in the decisions. We were impressed and relieved to find someone so caring and helpful. He fought with our awful insurance company for approval of the medicine he needed. Highly recommended!!!!!!

We called on Monday about a 23week premature infant with short gut syndrome, having had several stomach surgeries during her first hospital stay. She is now 17 months, diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and is having severe constipation issues. She screams half the night because of needing to have release of the stool in her system, but because of it being so tight she cannot release it with out pain so she tightens up so it is retained. I explained all this to the staff member and was told the doctor would call back. By Tuesday I had not heard and baby had been crying all night in pain again so call office a second time. I am told he does not return cals for 3-5 days. As a pediatric nurse I have never heard this in my entire medical career. I tell the staff member we cannot let this baby go any longer. She says sorry he will call when he has time. I call the pediatrician. The only time she can see her is in one hour. The mom has no ride but the bus that will take 1.5 hours to get… there. The pediatrician does at least leave a message that we are to continue the same medication and make an appointment with the GI specialist. Wed. The child has a little liquid stool and seems somewhat more comfortable so decide to wait for doctor to call. By Friday she has been screaming for another day and a half. I call Dr. Deneau's office again. I tell the staff how important it is to talk with the doctor and that it has been 5 days. All I get is I am sorry we gave him your message on Monday and he will call when he has time, or you can take the baby to the ER. I told her I only need different medication, not the ER that I have been trying to teach this mom what we use the ER for, and now you are telling me that is the only place we will get help. WE end up in the ER where she finally eliminates a huge amount of backed up stool. It takes the ER staff 2 hours to reach this same doctor to get an ok for a new constipation protocol. For a nurse who has given all she has to the patients I have treated, this is uncalled for and shows to me that a suffering little child does not matter to this doctor, especially if she happens to have Medicaid. Parents of these children have no recourse but to go to the ER where they know they will get treated, so we cannot blame them if it is costing all of us, who pay for it, more money.

He knows a lot about babies in the NICU. we appreciated his conservative approach. we only did surgery when we had to and he explained everything and all the tests

Really felt listened to and respected. Good sense of humor with my family to make a tough time easier. Very knowledgeable. A yellow baby is so scary and it was helpful to work through it with him.

Went to him because of multiple friends' good experience. Great sense of humor put us at ease with uncomfortable symptoms. My daughter really liked him. Honest, clear communication about IBD. A+

We have had several appointments with him and i have really liked him. He is really good with my son and tries hard to make him feel comfortable. He is also good at communicating with him about what he is thinking and shows that he understands my worries about my son.

Or son (3YR) hadn't had a solid bowel movement in two weeks, pediatrician prescribed laxatives and miralax (a lot) the ER Dr. prescribed the same to move the solids stuck in the top of hi GI tract (bottom is clear). the ER dr. told us to call PCMC GI clinic this morning. When he came in the room he challenged my wife in why we had been doing that and seemingly ridiculed her personally for those decisions and blamed other symptoms on all the 'crap' we have been giving him. then told us to stop and if he hasn't pooped substantial solids in another week to come back. so my son needs to go 3 weeks without passing any solids before he's important? NOT SATISFIED AT , not with his bedside manner, not for his 'time' he spent with us (3 minutes)
