Dr. Mark Joseph Gettleman, MD

Dr Mark Gettleman stormed out of my son’s appointment like a giant man baby after screaming at both of us because the first ADHD medication he prescribed my son made him feel sick so we stopped giving it to him and asked for another one to try. There are endless complaints about him doing this to countless patients at all different facilities across the East valley. I cannot believe that Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics would put their patients in jeopardy by hiring such an unstable man knowing how he treats his patients and their parents. A formal complaint has been made to the Arizona Medical Board. I highly suggest you do your research before bringing your children to see this psychopath.

He is great with my kid, keeps her giggling and at ease but he kinda portrays a know it all attitude when I bring up concerns I have about my child. He is also always in a hurry to get out of the room, which I get to a point but I feel like my child should be his top priority while in the room with her.

I went in for my child’s 15 month wcc. I went in with 2 concerns. A diaper rash and her bone structure where her feet are inward noticeably. I took a video and all to show the Dr. He informed me that this is all normal and will go away on its own. I informed him that my instinct says she needs braces. His response was “braces for what”. I said “to help the bone structure”. He said “they haven’t proven its effectiveness”. I said “I work with children and feel this will no go away on its own and I’m afraid this will turn into a delay”. He said “okay I’ll make a referral, will that make you happy” I nodded (confused about the tone he told me in). He told me height and weight. Then he said “how many bottles is your child having” I said “8oz in the morning and 8oz at night” he said “you need to be worried about that. A bottle can cause teeth decay, then we will have to pull them out, then your child will be teeth less- did you know about that” *I was shocked- no dr has EVER treated me with… such disrespect* I replied “yes I know that”. I reported him to his supervisor in tears because this is NOT HOW YOU TREAT PEOPLE.

It was 6:00 pm on my babies 3rd day of life. she was not eating and I was terrified but I didn't want to sit in the emergency room for hours. My other child's pediatrician, Dr. Gettleman had started his own practice so I called him. Within hours he was AT MY HOUSE with mobile trailer. He is so warm and reassuring. After spending about 45 minutes with us, he said my daughter was fine and gave me a few great tips. I don't know which is better, having such a caring doctor who I trust or not needing to leave my house. Do you self a favor and have Dr. Gettleman come to you.

Dr. Mark Gettleman ALWAYS GETS IT RIGHT! Whether I am bringing in a child for an earache, rash or allergy, he gives me the correct diagnosis and the correct medication, ointment, etc. that fixes the problem right away. And what I love the most about Dr. Gettleman is that if my child doesn't need anything, ie. child has an earache or virus will go away on its own and doesn't require antibiotics, he will tell me that and not prescribe me anything. And he's never been wrong! I don't want to unnecessarily give my child a drug if he/she doesn't need it. We saw a DIFFERENT urgent care doctor once (on a weekend when Dr. Gettleman's office was closed) who prescribed antibiotics to our son for an earache after telling me that there was not even an infection! I never filled the prescription and just monitored my son and his earache went away. My husband and I LOVE and APPRECIATE Dr. Gettleman's conservative approach to treating ailments in our children. He is an outstanding pediatrician… and I'm thankful we found him! Whenever I take one of my kids to see Dr. Gettleman, he is always smiling and happy. His nickname is "Goofy M.D." My kids love his cool ties and fun shoes, especially his Lion King tie!

Dr. Gettleman is so funny and as well as being funny he provides lots of info. Dr, G is a medical genius and always knows exactly what to do! He is a great doctor with lots of smarts!

Dr Gettleman is busy yes but most doctors are trying to see as many patients as possible so their business can make more money. I can understand that. What is NOT GOOD about him is how he talks down to me when I bring my child in for a visit. He is a doctor, sure, but he likes to spout out generalities and statistics but a doctor CANNOT pretend to know each baby after spending 2 minutes with them. YOU CANNOT TELL A NEW MOM THAT THEY SHOULD NEVER FEED THEIR BABY MORE THAN 3 OUNCES EVERY 4 HOURS!!! That is just wrong! Every baby is different and has specific needs! Get a grip man! Tell Moms to feed them depending on their age and weight!

I brought my twins into the office today to see Dr. Gettleman for their 4 year check ups. They were both nervous about getting shots.The office staff is always really friendly and the waiting rooms are filled with toys to play with, along with awesome murals on the walls. By the way, they only had about 5 minutes to play, because we were called back for their appointment on time. His nurse, Susan is very nice and makes my kids feel comfortable. Dr. Gettleman had them laughing the whole time. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone who is looking for a new pediatrician and appreciates excellent customer service.

I disagree with some of the comments that have been posted about Dr. Gettleman. Dr. Gettleman has been seeing my son for over 8 years, and he does a great job! He IS fast, but that is because he is confident and knows what he is doing, which I appreciate, as I don't want to waste my time during a visit to the doctor. He makes my son feel better about going to the doctor by playing with him, but he is listening to my concerns at the same time. He doesn't give unnecessary antibiotics, and although there were a few times when I was disappointed NOT to receive a medication, I listened to his advice and went home and did what he said, and he was right each time. My child did not need antibiotics at all in those cases, and I'm glad that he didn't just give him a medicine to make a worried mom feel better! He is a great doctor who knows what he is doing! I recommend him to all of my friends and coworkers.

This office offers the best of
