Dr. Mark S Hantoot, MD

Dr. Hantoot is an excellent doctor, especially when it comes to medicating properly. I was his patient for many years and really appreciated his approach to managing my medications.

Dr. Hantoot took one of my sessions to give me an in depth description of a young woman who was a friend of his daughter coming to him in emotional distress. Apparently she worked at a Starbucks he frequented and one of her co-workers had died in a hiking accident. According to the long story he told me, this young woman was understandably very upset by her friend’s death and “came on to” him when she talked to him. He said the point of telling me this long story is even though he was tempted by this friend of his daughter and had “ample opportunity” to take advantage of her “willingness”; he resisted her overtures b/c of him not thinking the fallout of him cheating was worth the momentary pleasure. It was a bizarre, convoluted story that took almost the whole 50 minutes for which I paid him $250. I think this narcissist actually thought he was enlightening me on the virtues of resisting pleasure by this inappropriate story. I wish this was the only weird story I had about him. I just… feel stupid I kept paying him for literally years when all he did was ensnare me into a relationship that was a enmeshed and certainly not therapeutic.

Mark is straight up unethical in his treatment. He roped me in with his in-depth and inappropriate revealing of his and his wife’s past history. I spent years paying him to hear about his troubles and being told how similar my family of origin was to his wife’s. It was so so messed up. The further I get from my time from him, I realize how he really shouldn’t be allowed to treat any patients. He is a megalomaniac and will gladly take money in the name of “therapy”.

Dr. Hantoot is a snake oil salesman. He brings his own prejudices into therapy. He will work very hard at trying to convince you that you need to keep seeing him, when you really don't. This is just a paycheck for him.

He is very manipulative, proceed with caution!

His medication practices are questionable as is his ways of conducting his practice. He is well intentioned but therapeutic style not productive.
