Dr. Mark Irwin Harris, MD

I worked for Dr. Harris many years ago when my son now 23 was born. I saw him as a patient and have referred many friends to Dr. Harris. I Never saw him first thing in The morning or first thing after lunch ever have a patient wait on him. However, he did get behind as he started to see patients. That is because he gives each patient the best care and attention based on what the tests and information He is delivering requires. There were some doctors over the years I would not go to myself nor refer anyone to. Dr. Harris is always one of the first ones that comes to the Top of my list when someone mentions Anything Neurological. He shoots you straight and expects you to take his advice and if you don’t want to yes He will get stern with you. I have on a few occasions seen him refer patients to another Dr. or give them discharge paperwork. I can tell you I have been walking down the hall in front of him before and heard complete conversations. It has been MANY years now but I never… heard him be rude to a patient. They may think because they aren’t able to get their way that’s rude. It’s not He only wants what’s best for them and if they don’t want to follow his advice and him discharging then from care is rude then I guess he might have been rude. I’m ok with a Dr. that is stern with me because they care about my health. If I don’t think that Dr. is listening to me I don’t want to go back to him or her anyhow so they aren’t being Rude they are actually doing us both a favor by giving me a chance to start over.

Dr. Mark Harris is arrogant, can not read MRI's, has no compassion and his office staff is incredibly unprofessional. I came in with scary symptoms and they were dismissed as anxiety. Later I was diagnosed at Emory with a real medical condition. I questioned Dr. Mark Harris and he dropped me as a patient. His staff said they didn't like my behavior and hung up on me. They didn't care that I couldn't see a new neurologist for months. I have two young children and can't drive due to my condition and Dr. Harris and his staff do not care. Please don't waste your time seeing this doctor- he is the worst and so is his staff. So unprofessional for a neurologist office.

While the Dr. was nice when I finally saw him, I had to wait an hour and a half for my appointment. They were completely unapologetic, then I got a lecture from his office staff that this is just how it is if I want to see him. Weeks later after my follow up appt. had been scheduled to receive Botox, the office staff calls to tell me they now have to push it back another 4 weeks because they haven’t even filed it with insurance yet to get it approved, again unapologetic, telling me there are people dealing with more pressing health issues than mine! Had I known it was going to take months, I could have gone to see another doctor. Complete mistreatment of patient and office staff is belligerent.

Doctor if you can see this review. I am a retired practice administrator over 35 plus years in difficult practices your staff needs to be retrained or rehired these people are extremely rude including the manager wish I had the unpleasure experience of talking with her. Y'all truly need to get rid of that staff they are making you lose a lot of money. I have five friends that could not get in to see you because up there Hitler type waves. One friend even wanted to come in as a self-pay and your front office girl refused and said he had to have insurance for you to see him. That is illegal and unethical.

I called in for a new patient appointment and was informed it would be about a month from the day I called in - I felt like this was a little wait but I had insisted on seeing Dr.Harris and not his PA. Once I got there the staff was very helpful and friendly. I waited about 30 minutes or so but I feel like this is normal with a neurologist because of the nature of the practice. Once I saw Dr.Harris I felt like the month wait was worth it. I had multiple problems to discuss and he listed and addressed them all. I felt like he was talking to me as a friend not just a doctor. I feel like this office cares about their patients and even though I waited a little while I feel it was worth it all.

I waited a month for an appt as a new patient. My appt was at 830 in the morning. I was really surprised to see 8 other patients there at the same time for one dr. It's not that he's gotten behind with a difficult case or something emergent. He's overbooked at the start of the day! Imagine if my spot had been later... I waited about 40 mins in the waiting room and another 30 mins after that. He did ask a lot of the same questions that were on the forms that they have you fill out. I had all my prior medical records sent in advance. He didn't seem to look at anything. He was nice enough but didn't listen to my chief complaint and kept focusing on an issue that has been less debilitating for me. I'd understand if he thought there was cause and effect or he was gathering information. But he never did get to my main purpose for being there which was frustrating. He either didn't listen, didn't pay attention, didn't care, or didn't think I deserved an explanation of his thought process...

I always review my Dr.'s before I choose them and wish I would have also reviewed the office for this Dr. as well. I get bad migraines and wanted a Dr. that could do my Botox. My first appointment I had to reschedule because they hadn't even gotten my Botox approved...after 3 months. I had to actually call my insurance myself and then call the scheduler at this office everyday to assure she followed through and got it there for my rescheduled appointment. I got so many excuses as to why this happen it was ridiculous. My second appointment for my Botox was fine but the wait in the waiting room was very long. My third appointment has been a complete mess. The day of my appointment I called to confirm, because they did not call me, and they informed me I had cancelled my own appointment, which I definitely did not do. They could not tell me who at their facility took the call to cancel it but just that it said was cancelled. I explained how I had taken the afternoon off and was on my way… for my appointment, an hour away, and they said they were sorry there was nothing they could do I had to reschedule. So out of frustration I rescheduled for the following week. The next week I called the day before to make sure my medicine was there and they still had my appointment and they confirmed both. The next morning I received a phone call informing me that the Dr. had an emergency and they had to reschedule my appointment yet again. When I expressed to the person rescheduling how upset I was she got mad at me and basically said she didn't have time for me and the person that does the Botox would call me back. I also had to explain to them that if I didnâ??t come that day I wouldnâ??tâ?? be able to come for a few weeks putting me way past the 12 week deadline. I was completely understanding about the Dr. emergency but they made me feel as if the time I had scheduled off work didn't matter. The staff just is not what one would expect to receive in a doctorâ??s office and they never made me feel like I was appreciated as a patient. Its very sad to say because honestly Dr. Harris is a very good Dr. He is polite, nice and professional I felt. Now I have to spend time and money to find a new doctor and get new approval from my insurance.

First of all this doctors office makes you wait for an hour in the waiting room. Then, once you are taken to an exam room it is another 30-60 minute wait before the doctor even gets there. He spends 5-8 minutes asking the same questions the form we filled out when we got there asked. It is a waste of time and money. The office staff is so unprofessional and rude it is beyond imaginable. They order tests without telling you the cost whether you can afford it or not. They literally only care about the money they get from you. If you cant afford it they leave you out in the cold without prescriptions you need. The second we can we will find a new doctor. One who is in it for the gratification of keeping people healthy, not how much money they can get out of you.

The Front office and the Doctor have been very unprofessional. You would think people with this type of educational background and knowledge they would have more couth. Doctor seems to be a nice guy however his office staff is so nasty and the fact that they still work there means that he condones the way they treat his patients. I have never dealt with such rude and unprofessional behavior from anyone in my life. I agree that this doctors office is all about money. I feel as though I had to pay for them to complete my medical paperwork for my employer totaling $115.00 and I have since been told paperwork is $50 for the 1st page and $25 for each additional page that needs to completed. For a doctor to diagnose their patient there should not be a cost. If there is one it should not be an absorbinent amount. I highly advise that you find another doctors office that has more professionalism and empathizes with your situation.
