Dr. Mark Francis Kufel, MD

09/03/2019 Complaint On September 03, 2019, I was scheduled for a routine c-section for my daughter. I Description was told that I should get a tubal to give myself time to recover and heal without the risk of getting pregnant to soon. I was 21 years old. I asked if the procedure was reversable, which I was told by the surgeon Mark F. Kufel, that it was reversable and later I can have more children. Now 6 years later, I went to my current OBGYN and was discussing my family planning options. Upon her requesting my medical records, the current OBGYN Dr. Cooper in Sebring, FL that my only option is IVF because I did not receive a traditional tubal. The procedure that was completed in September of 2019 by Dr. Mark Kufel in Baptist Hospital actually did a bilateral salpingectomy which is the bilateral removal of both fallopian tubes. This is not what I consented to nor what I was even close what I was told. Now I can't have children or conceive the natural way due to malpractice and… misinformation due to a doctor's negligence. My reproductive rights where completely taken from me and now I don't have the options to have another child. There was also a lack of documentation. The clinical documents, the surgical report, or after care documents do not state that a bilateral salpingectomy was performed. On the pathology states that bilateral salpingectomy was completed. This should only state a basic tubal which is the only procedure I consented to due to the fact that it was reversable in the future.

-5 stars Horrible, Horrible Dr. Mark Kufel is the WORST Dr. I’ve ever encountered. He has terrible best side manners. He made my delivery the worst experience ever. DO NOT ALLOW PERSON TO DELIVER YOUR BABY. He is a AWFUL HUMAN BEING AND DEFINITELY DONT NEED TO BE A DR. Working with WOMEN. RUN FAST AS YOU CAN!!

He may go too fast for some patients (the word "hyper" came up today when I couldn't remember his name and the nurse @ Kaiser knew who I meant) but he took care of me quickly, efficiently, without putting me through a bunch of expensive testing, and fixed the problem! Even my husband liked him (met him before/after OR).I wish he was still at Kaiser. Or that I wasn't.(my star ratings reflect kaiser not where he is now. Kaiser makes me angry sometimes but they do get you in and out FAST.)

Dr. Kufel was my first Gyn as a teen, and I was fortunate enough to happen upon him again when pregnant with my third child. He always put me at ease and I never felt rushed during an appointment. His professionalism and knowledge made me confident in him as my doctor, and his sense of humor made me comfortable. I always felt like he treated me as a person, rather than just another patient.

I saw Dr. Kufel 4 different times and everytime it was the same poor care... even after complaints to Kaiser and to him personally. I finally said I would NEVER see him again.

I would not recommend Dr. Kufel to anyone. Don't waste your time.
