Dr. Luban was born and raised on Long Island, New York.  He received his Bachelors degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from the University of Colorado.  He continued his education at the prestigious New York University College of Dentistry where, as the youngest in his class, he earned his Doctorate degree in Dental Surgery, graduating with honors. 
Upon completing his hospital residency program in Los Angeles, Dr. Luban opened the Marina Dental Center, in Marina Del Rey, Ca, where he practiced for eleven years. During this period of time, he and his team brought a fresh take to modern dentistry, and catered to those looking for the highest level of personalized care. Dr. Luban and his staff delivered top quality treatment and cosmetics to many of Los Angeles' faces and smiles, many of which were quite recognizable both in film and on the small screen.
After relocating with his family to San Diego in 1995, Dr. Luban started his practice in the …Rancho Bernardo area, and in 2010, opened his newest, state of the art facility in the San Diego community of Carmel Mountain Ranch, where he incorporates the most advanced technologies into his practice. Carmel Mountain Dentistry serves all of North County San Diego including the communities of Rancho Bernardo, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Poway, Rancho Penasquitos, and Scripps Ranch.
For Dr. Luban, cosmetic dentistry is both a passion and an art form. He strives for perfection with each patient, and focuses on designing restorations that look and feel natural. Taking into account the widespread fear and anxiety many patients associate with going to the dentist, Dr. Luban has made it his personal mission, for over 20 years, to create an environment that caters to "dental phobics", or any apprehensive or fearful patients. He offers oral sedation for those patients that feel it would make their dental experience more pleasant.
Dr. Luban and his wife Suzette have four children, and are active in many philanthropic causes within the community. Their oldest son, David, is an internationally trained chef, while their daughter, Danielle, after earning her PHD in Clinical Psychology, is currently on the staff of the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. Their two youngest boys are both currently attending college on the east coast, Mitchell at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, and Stephen at Columbia University in New York City. Traveling is an integral part of the "Luban" life, ranging from spending a year in the south of France (while the boys attended school in Aix-en-Provence), to numerous family trips to various countries in Europe and South America. Of course, frequent visits to New York are a must, especially during October and the World Series (to see Dr. Luban's beloved Yankees!!)
