Dr. Mark Lyman Magulac, MD

First time seeing this doctor, he was over 40 minutes late. Once we finally made it into his office he was very distracted and kept checking his phone. After 30 minutes he says that he needs to step out for a minute. We waited 15 minutes yet no sign of his return. My son said he needed to go to the bathroom so I took him - as we walked to the bathroom we saw him sitting and talking with another patient! At this point I told the receptionist that we did not wish to continue with the appointment and would not be coming back.

I suffer from bipolar II, anxiety disorder, ADHD, and PTSD. I've met with more psychiatrists over the years than I can recall, some good, some bad. After encountering two nervous breakdowns I was in extremely bad shape and found myself in outpatient hospitalization. Nothing the doctors tried pulled me out of my deep state of depression. Suicidal thoughts ran rampant through my mind. My doctor's suggested I engage in electroconvulsive therapy. I reluctantly agreed. Fortunately, it helped immensely. But for several years, I still experienced extreme anxiety. All day, every day, I felt as if I was experiencing a heart attack. I also woke up each morning with a migraine headache. I was introduced to Dr. Magulac when I could no longer endure the pain. He looked at my chart and said, your previous doctor has you on the correct medications, but the dosages are wrong. He promised in six months I'd be a new man. I've never felt good my entire life, so why should I believe a doctor now? Well,… I'm here to tell you he performs miracles. Now I know what it's like to feel normal. Granted, I have my days. But I finally enjoy life for a change. For this reason, I highly recommend him.

Dr Magulac is awesome. He helped my daughter through some very tough times. He has helped me as well. Very easy to talk to. He is a good listener.

My first visit was fine. He seemed a little stiff, but nice. I have no idea what went wrong at the second visit. I had called him and told him earlier that I had not started the meds b/c I had a few questions. My next appt was awful! He didn't sit down for the first half of the appt. He was busy making tea and filing. When we got to the fact that I didn't like one of the meds he gave me b/c of the giant warning label and 5 pages of warnings from the pharmacist. He didn't explain the warning(as my next Dr did). He just instantly got angry with me. When he altered the medicine plan, he asked if I was going to take it. I said I wanted to discuss it with my husband. He wondered why my husband would care and said just don't tell him. When I said my husband might have objections(I doubted he would but we are both cautious about meds and I didn't want to say I would take it and then not do it.) his response to this was......well if this is the kind of marriage you have don't… bother taking the medicine you are going to be miserable anyway. Keep in mind he already knew I was feeling hopeless about my situation. He then said maybe I am short today because I don't feel well. Well then he should have STAYED HOME!! I left feeling far worse than when I arrived. I left him a message later saying I would not be back and that I thought his attitude was inappropriate. I hoped I would at least get an apology. The closest I got was in a message he left he said he apologized if he was too "strident" with me. Jerk. I would not recommend him to anyone because who knows when he might have a cold again. He is by far the most irresponsible, rude and hurtful doctor I have ever met. Thankfully I have a new dr and all is well now, no thanks to Dr. Magulac.

Dr. Magulac's work has changed my life. He looks at the BIG picture, and if a patient's willing, will patiently work towards total health. ...

BEWARE of this doctor. He medicated my son so much that he became violent. So Dr. Magulac diagnosed him as bipolar instead of recognizing the side effects of the medication he was prescribing. We sought the advice of 3 psychiatrists. All 3 of them said that my son was not bipolar, but over medicated. We took him off all meds and now our son is functioning better than ever. In his own words, he finally feels like himself again. So sad that we wasted those years with our son.

The quality of care we have received has always been excellent and we would highly recommend him. I cant imagine going anywhere else.
