Dr. Mark Steven Metzger

Very talented surgeon. Had successful C 5/6 discectomy/fusion. He always took his time to make sure I understood everything. pre and post operative care was excellent.

As someone who watched the good Dr.....A good number of Dr. Metzger patients were Medicare and Medicaid and someone who needs a joint replacments of any kind has physical issues. Many were technically Obese which means complications are almost guaranteed believe it or now more surface area on your body means more bacteria.... That said after 2 month post op your benefit of physical therapy is limited.....sorry you have to do the exercise you are taught at home on your own....insurance hits the dr is they go beyond norms without cause. You dont like having to wait 4 hours to be worked in to clinic schedule as they do not have openings next day .....then see your private physician.....it not magic....are you stupid in that you dont know what an infection is? And the high likely hood in a joint replacement?. I would love to hear the weight age and medical history of the person make the complaint here and suspect a smoker but obviously dont have enough information. Part of Dr… Metzger regular time problem was his wish to make sure he spent enough time so that folks understood what they were getting in to. That meant you had to wait as he got off schedule and it could mean well over an hour by the end of the day. The good Dr is out of business actually do to another U of M Dr one.....Dr Dana Tasson who in appropriately (negligently is something that probably should have been taken up by Dr Metzger in court and why I have no idea but I understand the statute of limitations probably entered in) prescribed a combination of medications that caused a situation that shattered a number of peoples lives including Dr Metzgers and his family. So the moral of the story is do not expect perfection if you are not perfect to begin with because you will never get it. But one can NOT argue with the quality of Dr Metzgers outcomes compared to the national stats. Top 5%....... even when he was on the medications that got him in to trouble. Numbers do NOT lie only people can for their own self serving ways. Enough said And No this is not Dr Metzger one thing I do know is he will not visit these websites and probably for good reason. Dr. Metzger was the one who told me his name is German for "butcher." If that doesn't put you off, the rest should: When I developed a post-op infection, he made me wait 4 HOURS in his office, then ordered me back to the hospital IMMEDIATELY. Was it urgent or not? After knee and hip replacements within 2 months, he stated he didn't "believe in" physical therapy. And when I broke my leg a year later and needed a cast, he refused to see me and then fired me. He's a complete jerk.

Dr. Metzger saved my life !

Explained things simply so that I could make an educated decision. Didn't push me into something I didn't want. I'm glad I had my hip replacement done. Thanks
