Dr. Mark Mikhael, MD

Dr Mikhael is great. I was referred by a couple friends who had surgery with him and had a great outcome. He’s thorough and clearly explains his thoughts. He’s got a great bedside manner to match his outstanding CV and reputation. I recommend him without hesitation.

Wow is this guy haughty! I Went to this Doc for a second opinion regarding 3 intensely herniated discs, with MRI and XRays. Mark proceeded to XRAY me again (for billing purposes), saying the MRI wasn't as telling as an XRAY, when I had serious soft tissue damage, which is illogical. Told me no surgery would help. Not that I'd ever let this 36 YO EVER perform spinal surgery on me, it was simply a second opinion. Went back to original Doc (Doppenberg), who said laminectomy and discectomy were needed. Ended up having surgery allowing me to walk again. Astonishingly incompetent doctor! If I were the litigious type, I'd have taken him to the cleaners as he wasted 9 months of my life b/c I'd already had 7 knee surgeries and was very much against having another surgery, however, in the end, it was most definitely warranted. If you have anything beyond a broken wrist, he can't handle soft tissue concerns so don't bother.

Dr. Mikhael sat down and took the time to explain my condition to me and showed me on the x-rays. He discussed the order of treatment options and answered all of my questions thoroughly. His assistant was also very friendly and helpful! There was little to no wait time and I feel a little better just knowing what is going on with my back.

Dr. Mikhael is truly a compassionate and gifted doctor. He explained my problem very clearly to my husband and I and took the time to make sure we understood all options available. He ultimately performed surgery on my neck which was a great success. Overall, he is just excellent. He staff is kind and available as well and I can't thank his assistant, Tara, enough for all her help. I recommend him without reservation, he is the best.

He is a confident doctor and skilled surgeon. He made me very comfortable and explained things very clearly. He set the right expectations for my surgery and followed me all the way through. I saw HIM at every visit, not just his PA or nurse. My neck surgery was very successful and I was at ease throughout the whole process because of his excellent care and caring bedside manner.

He's excellent and caring. Spent enough time with me and explained my issues clearly. He also gave me a couple options in addition to his suggested recommendation.

I am very thankful for all the great care Dr. Mikhael has provided to my wife and I. He has taken superb care for our neck and back problems and his staff is excellent. He is truly a great physician, surgeon, and person.

This Extremely compassionate orthopedic surgeon saved my mobility. I had a spinal cord injury my cord was being compressed by some discs that had been herniated for quite a few years ...... My symptoms the numbness in my right hand and my right leg weakness came on gradually and by then I was already in danger...... Dr Mark Mikhael of Illinois Bone and Joint Institute performed emergency surgery on my cervical spine ..... Decompressed my spinal cord and because of him I walk ...... I will soon run!!!! And my pain I had for years is GONE. I am a young healthy adult with no major medical issues besides this dangerous spinal cord injury. I may in time regain my feeling in my right hand but for now I am home recovering after my surgery this past Monday and this surgeon has answered all my calls when i have had questions arise. He is extremely compassionate and sensitive to the patient ..... I am forever grateful to this wonderful man ....... I hope to pay it forward .........
