Horrible. Find a different neurologist if you can

I waited 4 months to see Puricelli. He spent 5 minutes with me. He was sent the results of my EMG tests months prior to my visit. He said he had no test results. I told him my symptoms and he dismissed them outright. He was angry, condescending and rarely looked up from his laptop. He told me to come back in 6 months to see if my pain had worsened. No thanks! I called the patient advocate at MercyOne to explain how poorly I was treated. I then received a call from Puricelli's receptionist. She said he had the EMG test results. I asked why did he say he did not? She said some doctors want to see how the patient reacts when told they don't have all your information. What????? I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT SEE DR. MARK PURICELLI. He does not care and seems completely incompetent.

Our visit was a total waste of time. His bedside manner clearly indicated that he hates his job and could not care any less about patients. Did absolutely nothing to address the health issues. He simply prescribed medications to try to appease and get us out of the room. He needs to find a different career where he does not deal with people.

I've suffered with head and face pain for almost a year now. I was referred by my primary. When Puricelli asked where the pain was, he continued to look at the laptop. I said "it starts here..." and still nothing. I bent towards him and tried to show him again, with no response. He kept his attention on the laptop. Simply wrote a prescription for Gabapentin and said he'd see me in 3 months. No, I think not. So I called to see if I could be seen by another doctor there. I stated this was not a good fit. My request for a transfer of doctors was reviewed by Jacoby but denied. So now I am looking for a good doctor, preferably a believer, and one with a good heart. Meanwhile, I still suffer with pain, along with the confusion and frustration from this physician.

This guy is an egotistical pompous jerk. Misdiagnosed a blood clot as a crazy bone injury. If I could give him less than 1/2 star I would. And he is training future neurologists....

We met with Dr. Purcelli today for a follow-up visit after my husband's stroke. We had been dreading this visit due to all the negative comments about this doctor. Our visit today was quite the opposite. He was very friendly and welcoming. He answered all our questions and did not talk down to us. Gave us further instructions for avoiding another stroke and gave us his card so we could call if we had any other questions. I would not hesitate to see him again.

My Grandson had onset of seizures 1st week of college.4 trips to ER..hospitalized 3 days Nothing resolved Dr Purcelli was the Dr. In my 43 yrs of being a Nurse...I have never met such an inconsiderate Dr....or office staff.can get no answers...no calls returned..could go on and on..so very poor recommendation here!!

I have suffered from migraines for many years, and I was looking for a change in my medication. I was referred to Dr. Puricelli. He did not do any tests on me, and he prescribed a medicine that my insurance denied. As it turns out, he could have avoided this if he would have just looked at my chart. I worked with his nurse, and she prescribed (after several times speaking to her about information that was in my chart) something different. Also, he told me that I had to stop taking the medicine that I was taking as needed for migraines because I had a heart attack, even though my cardiologist had not said anything about that medication. Instead, he prescribed nausea medication for me and told me to take Tylenol if the prescribed medication that he had given me didn't work. I mentioned this to my pharmacist, and he said he had never heard of this, and that he wouldn't recommend taking Tylenol, which I knew because Tylenol does absolutely nothing for my migraines. Now I'm stuck taking a… medicine that has exactly the same side effect as the medicine I was trying to get off of before. I would like to think that Dr. Puricelli is not representative of all the physicians at Mercy Medical.

I just left this (Dr.) office after taking my 80 year old father there, and this was the worst experience with a Dr. I have ever had, and I'm 54. Dr was rude, condescending demeaning. My father is hard of hearing Dr went so far as to wave his hand back and forth in front of his face and say hello hello, and both nurse and Dr were advised of hearing issue. As far as I'm concerned he should not even be allowed to treat animals!!

Told my story in great detail of onset, timing, symptoms, history, etc and he immediately started focusing on other locations and dismissed everything I said. Rx prescribed didn't work, severe pain continued, no callback for days. Spent 7 minutes in the room with me, wrote an Rx and walked out. Awful service, no details, didn't do an exam for the areas of pain. I felt written off and not important or a priority. Almost like "try this for a month and good luck". Read all the poor reviews on this page and Google his name for others. Lots of people with the same story of poor service, dismissive, lack of importance, no exam and doesn't focus on anything you say. Might as well be flipping a coin. Extremely disappointed.
