Dr. Mark F Simonds

Dr. Simonds has been my psychiatrist for a long time. He diagnosed my major depressive disorder and recognized the abusive situation I was in and took steps to help me when the hospital I was in did not recognize it or help me with. He chose the right medications quickly - I did not have to try different drugs for months hoping to stabilize my symptoms. I feel human and in control of my life again, thanks to Dr. Simonds.

My wife went him and as a new patient did not know how uncaring and did not listen to her. when for the 5 time he miss pronounced her name. She just told him well that set him off and in front of everyone made her say his name and then first name and what his medical specialty then he ignored her for 15min on his computer. My wife asked if they were done he said no she made the appointment now was his time. when she had enough she started to leave and he went off. And 10min later he canceled all her medcation that not safe and wrote untrue things in her medical history. To this day we cannot get it removed and she will not go to another doctor. Facey investigated lol and wrote very threatening letter to her.

spends most of my appointment time on his cell phone texting which is not work related and very unprofessional. he always seems distracted. will read back him notes from my previous visits and puts words in my mouth. things that I have never said which he puts in his notes. that goes to show me he really is not paying any attention to me. he seems more interstate in what he is texting.

I have been seeing him for about 4 years for depression. I question if he is paying attention to what I'm saying when he asks about how I'm feeling and symptoms. He seems to be distracted or tired most of my visits. He is very good at explaining medications and their possible side effects, as well as scheduling follow-up appointments with any medication changes. Primarily still see him because psychiatrists are extremely difficult to find those who are taking patients in my area or surrounding area. If another were taking patients and had a better rating, I hate to say but I would go elsewhere.

I have been to a few Psychiatrists but none have impressed me as much as Dr. Simonds. He has helped me so much more than prevous doctors.

My primary care doctor strongly recommended Dr Simonds. I found him to be straight forward and knowledgeable. He acurately diagnosed my problem and recommended a solution. Lose weight. My depression and anxiety was actually caused by pre diabetes. Good job doc!

The doctor recognized my depression (I didn't) and provided short term treatment. I'm fine now.

In 20 years of psychiatric visits I've learned that very few are good, about 20% are ok and the rest suck. Hands down this guy is the worst of the lot. He cost me hundreds in unnecessary RX costs because his office could not deal with mail order RX required by insurance. They literally screwed this up three times in a row (despite repeated calls) leaving me to withdraw from Effexor which causes bad reactions. A dead cold fish has a better bedside manner and his office pocketed my cash copayment. Avoid him at all costs
