Dr. Mark Douglas Smith, MD

Dr. Smith was a doctor I was visited by at Southwest hospital where I was seen in labor and delivery at 35 weeks pregnant. I was in a lot of pain with cramping and spotting. Walked into my room with no introduction of who he was and gave me a pelvic exam. Was not very caring and didn’t seem to acknowledge the fact I was in pain. Very rude and didn’t seem to care. Do not recommend him in a hospital setting.. don’t know how he is at his clinic, but didn’t have a good experience at all.

No problem with him as a normal OB, but don't keep going here if you're pregnant. I was severely sick my entire pregnancy and was never taken seriously despite losing weight throughout my third trimester. I watched him measure my baby girl and her measure behind on size and then remeasure her outside the lines to make her seem ok. I didn't say anything because I tried to have faith in my doctor. Long story short she came out preemie size with severe jaundice despite being full term. They also refused to send my medical records to a different hospital despite me asking multiple times because they wanted to make sure they were paid for the delivery with no concern of my child or I. Then after I delivered at another hospital I was told by the receptionist that she would see if he still felt like taking me. Hah. Like I would go back. 4 years as my OB. Ridiculous.

Wait time is insane! I have always had morning appointments and he has kept me (and my husband who has to be at work early) waiting as long as an hour! When you call the nurses with an issue, they ask you who has diagnosed you with the symptoms you are having... what? That's why I'm calling you!! His response to the questions I ask in the appointment is, "when is your next appointment? we are going to go ahead and keep that appointment and see you next time". Seriously? I would not recommend Dr. Smith to anyone!

Dr. Smith was recommended by a neighbor. I hadn't had my well-woman check in years, but he made me feels comfortable and by the end of the visit I had my well woman exam done, my blood work checked and a mammogram ordered.
