Dr. Mark Barringer Van Deusen, MD

Very rude and disrespectful. Terrible bedside manners. Yelling at patient and patients mother just for asking questions.

Long story - if you look around you will see other people reporting that they have never been treated as badly from a clinical, customer, or billing perspective.

I wouldn't even send my dog to Van Deusen. My husband went to him because he was losing his voice. He saw Dr. Van Deusen over the course of three months with no improvement. The voice therapist that Van Deusen referred my husband to said that voice therapy wouldn't help his condition and he needed to see a different kind of specialist, an ENT. Husband called Van Deusen for the referral to the ENT but his office told him that he would have to make an appointment and been seen first in order to get the referral. Mind you, my husband had been seeing Van Deusen for months. I'm not sure why he could just give the number to the ENT over the phone. Anyway, my husband had almost completely lost his voice by this point so I decided to accompany him to his doctors appointment. I had a few questions for the doctor (i.e., What is the cause of this condition? Why doesn't he seem to be improving? Is there a cure? The doctor abruptly yelled "Do you think this is my fault!?" "It seems like you do… think I'm not doing enough to help your husband!" I was absolutely appalled by his response. I asked him these questions in a sincere and respectable tone... I stayed calm as I didn't want to unset my husband knowing that he was in a delicate position (sitting there unable to completely use his voice) I responded to the doctor by staying I'm just trying to understand his condition. The doctor than yelled. "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO?!" I responded, I just want ever is best for my husband. Van Deusen responded "I WANT WHATS BEST FOR HIM TOO!" Van Deusen then got up and slapped the door behind him... I was in shock as I have never (ever) seen such an unprofessional outburst form a doctor. My questions where very reasonable and didn't warrant that kind of outburst. Perhaps his comments was a tell tale sign of his own insecurity and his ability to perform... He returned to the office with the "referral" for my husband I looked at the "referral" after when we got home and found that it was a paper that Van Deusen had printed from google with the ENT's contact information... My husband is self pay so he paid $100 for that visit... By the way, husband got an extra bill in the mail several weeks later. I was confused by that because husband always paid in full prior to leaving each appointment. After speaking with several people in the billing department and receiving conflicting information from them each, I was told that the doctor "forgot to charge him for a couple of other things which often happens with the self pay patients".

I have been through a lot because of an infection in my throat. Dr. Vandeusen had the patience to listen every and his office schedule was flexible all the time, even when I call in the last minute. He worked with me when I had concerns, and guide me to the correct decision. He removed the throat infection,and pay the same attention for me even after the surgery. The surgery went wonderful and I am feeling gret now.

I have been dealing with sinus infections, polyps, and other issues for fourteen years. I began seeing Dr. Vandeusen about two years ago. His treatment has always been helpful...however...he strongly suggested a surgical procedure. I was hesitant about having the procedure. Overtime Doctor Vandeusen gained my confidence and I finally agreed to the outpatient procedure. The outcome has been better than expected. My breathing has never been better! The recovery was just as the doctor explained. I cannot detail how satisfied I am with taking Dr. Vandeusen's advice. I strongly recommend him to anyone with similar issues.
