Dr. Mark Perry Zoland, MD

From my initial consultation, Dr. Zoland was a total pro. Super clean office, took me in early for my appointment, spent tons of time talking thru the diagnosis and giving me options. On surgery day, his excellent staff and bedside manner made me feel at ease and in great hands. All went smooth, and recovery has gone exactly as he suggested. Is always available to answer questions (and always timely in his responses). Would recommend to family and friends.

It is with great enthusiasm that I write this highly favorable review of Dr Zoland. My perspective is from that of a patient and for what it is worth also from that of a physician who has had thousands of patient encounters. I am seeing Dr Zoland for what is called sports hernia or athletic pubalgia, an injury to the structures in the groin. This is a very challenging problem with only a limited number of surgeons able to deal with it. Dr Zoland's knowledge of this disorder is impressive and extraordinary. His evaluation was comprehensive asking pointed questions and then performing a remarkably detailed physical examination, yet in a gentle dignified fashion. He combines this with his excellent ability to interpret MRI findings, critical to evaluation of athletic pubalgia. There is an advantage when the surgeon can combine their physical observations with his own evaluation of the images rather than merely relying on someone else's interpretation. Then there is his bedside manner… which puts to rest any stereotype about doctors. He is kind, compassionate, warm and patient. As you can image as a physician I had a huge number of questions. Not only was he patient in answering my questions, but because he is so passionate about his field and dedicated to helping others, he was enthusiastic about the process. Highly recommended for any groin disorder from standard hernias to athletic publagia. Totally remarkable surgeon and man.

I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Zoland perform a hernia mesh procedure to correct multiple hernias in my groin. The care he showed before and after the operation were exceptional and the recovery has been very manageable thanks to his expertise and knowledge. I am eternally grateful to him for making an unpleasant condition as smooth and painless as possible.

Dr. Zoland operated on my groin with Dr. Srino Bharam to repair a torn adductor tendon. In pre-op, he noticed I had a small sports hernia, and then during the operation they identified a separate indirect hernia. Dr. Zoland successfully repaired both tears, checked in repeatedly post surgery, took all the time possible for questions and concerns, and was always available for questions both before and after the operation. His office is neat, friendly, and on time. For such a sensitive surgery, and with some serious unexpected turns during surgery, I couldn't have hoped to be in better hands.

I highly recommend Dr. Zoland as a surgeon. I saw him after several months of deep groin pain which was not improving. I was referred to him by a co-worker who had worked with Dr. Zoland. Office staff was helpful and clearly explained details of the initial appointment. Dr. Zoland himself spent a long time discussing my injury, reviewing my MRIs, and clearly describing the possible surgical procedure for sports hernia repair. He was professional and detail oriented. As a medical professional myself, I felt that he was detailed and clear in his explanations. He did not seem rushed during the appointment which was a welcome experience in a hyper-speed medical world. The office staff was also fantastic - knowledgeable and courteous with every phone call and nuance of the scheduling process both office and surgical. The surgery itself provided almost immediate pain relief to the constant deep pain I had been experiencing. The scar is minimal and the healing process went smoothly. The… detailed physical therapy instructions for post-operative made it simple to complete rehab and recovery from a distance. Now a little over 6 months out from surgery, I am now back to physical activity, running and otherwise which I was not sure was going to be possible. I am very grateful to Dr. Zoland.

I have been battling deep groin pain during certain movements for nearly 3 years. I tried physical therapy, injections & even had a different surgeon repair my labrum as he was certain that was the cause of my pain. I was seeing a different surgeon in NY (Dr Anil Ranawat) to try to find a solution for my discomfort. Dr Ranawat referred me to Dr Zoland... what a breath of fresh air when meeting him. Extremely personal and knowledgeable, he spent nearly 90 minutes with me during our first appointment reviewing symptoms and my MRIs and CT Scan. He came up with a plan that resulted in repairing 4 hernias that other Dr's told me I didn't have. I am 2 weeks post surgery and feel better than have have in 3 years. Thank you to Dr Zoland and his team for helping me come up with a solution. Looking forward to playing golf with my son again! I would refer anyone to his office, especially those that may be frustrated with lack of answers from other medical professionals.

Three years of pain and discomfort, diagnosed and repaired in 3 professional visits. 1. MRI (sports hernia protocol @ Lenox Hill Hospital) 2. Consult with Dr. Zoland 3. Surgery at Lenox Hill MEETH facility. After three years of being non-diagnosed by several New Jersey doctors and a multitude of tests, I was referred to Dr. Zoland to discuss my obvious hernia(s) symptoms. We discussed the MRI results and came up with a plan for the repairs with a direct, caring, and very professional approach. A few weeks later the necessary repairs were made at the Lenox Hill MEETH facility whereby all of the staff did an excellent job! Dr. Zoland and the staff at the office are very professional and answered any questions that I had regarding surgery, billing, tests, etc. After two follow-up appointments Dr. Zoland assured me that he is available should further consultation be required. I would highly recommend Dr. Zoland to anyone who is experiencing classic and/or sports hernia… symptoms.

Dr. Zoland (and his staff) are exceptional in every way! He's is not only a tremendously skillful doctor, but has a great bedside manner! Dr. Zoland spent a great deal of time with me when I met with him so that he could determine whether or not I had a hernia. He even was available for phone conversations after when I had quick follow up questions. On the day of my surgery he spoke with me at length beforehand to explain how the day would go and to put me at ease. The surgery went well and he was there to speak to me before I was discharged. At every stage he took as much time as I needed to counsel me and to answer my questions. It was clear he really cares for his patients. The staff at the surgical center all seemed to think really highly of him. I had the surgery over a year ago and have no reoccurance or discomfort at all.

I, an engineer and detail person, interviewed various surgeons to repair a hernia.Dr. Zoland was the only one who took the time to fully explain his method of repair and upon my request, drew on paper the surgical steps that he would use and explained the technical reasons why his approach would be a permanent repair and not temporary as friends of mine experienced with their hernia repairs. After 3 years, my repair is permanent. Dr.Zoland is thorough and is the best.
