Dr. Markos I Koutsos, MD

This doctor's clinic was substandard, with very public waiting rooms following the procedure. A number of things went wrong during the experience, including his anesthesiologist dropping the face mask to the floor completely before trying to put it on me. Afterward the doctor made no apology over that, but recommended a second colonoscopy 2 weeks later, and then a third. When I went to a different GI, cancer was found that Dr. Koutsos had overlooked.

The atmosphere of Koutsos's west side clinic was chaotic. His anesthesiologist dropped the oxygen mask completely to the floor, then picked it up and tried to put it on me. I asked for a clean one, and got it, but I wish I had stopped the procedure then. Four years later, taking the results of that colonoscopy to a new G.I. doctor, I learned that there was clearly a tumor visible in the photograph of the colonoscopy Dr. Koutsos performed. He misdiagnosed it and had he not, could have saved me from a dramatic operation. His clinic was disgustingly unclean, and the people working for him unprofessional. I can't stress enough to avoid this doctor.

His receptionist Effie is very unprofessional. She needs to learn to have some empathy. We don’t visit the doctor’s office to be subjected to her rudeness.
