I’ve had issues with my lower back for most of my adult life resulting in 3 past surgeries (2 Discectomies & 1 laminectomy @ L4/L5). Mostly successful but had chronic/reoccurring sciatic and back pain limiting activities. Two weeks ago my back went out, again, and I ended up in the ER and couldn’t walk. After initial treatment I was referred to Dr. Peris by my primary care physician. MRI showed a herniated disc, bone spur and significant spinal stenosis at L2/L3. Dr. Peris explained things very clearly and was concise with recommendations and options, which was much appreciated, considering the pain I had. Surgery was scheduled for the following week. I could not be more pleased with the results. I was amazed that this procedure could be done in about 90 minutes, as an out-patient. Mindboggling because my 1st back surgery (~1976) was less complicated, lasted about 3 hrs. with a 2-week hospital stay after surgery. I came out of post-op anesthesia with none of the typical… symptoms and an hour later, after a brief required wheelchair ride, I walked to my car, unassisted and pain free. A day after surgery I’m a little sore but overall, feel great. I’m confident of a full recovery and getting back, pun intended, to the things I love to do. Thank you Dr. Peris and your support team. I tried to get an appt with Dr Peris but was instructed that I had to see his PA first. The PA was less than impressed with the X-ray and stated that the only thing he saw was some minor scoliosis and that it was probably causing my pain (which, at the time, was at an intense level in the mornings). He said he would discuss with Dr Peris and give me a call to discuss my next step. I never heard back. Now, 2 months later and after finding a doctor to listen to my concerns and complete further testing, I am scheduled for surgery. I have a retrolisthesis, a subluxation and a prolapsed disc that is causing intense nerve pain. One of the vertebrae shifts back and forth when I bend. I am now in a brace 24/7 to prevent muscle spasms. To think that I could be healing now instead of awaiting surgery is more than upsetting. The practice of being assessed by a lesser level of care is unacceptable. I can't state whether Dr. Peris is a good doctor or not. I never got past his… Sergeant-at-arms.

I suffered from spinal stenosis for 30 years and tried a variety of treatments, none of which was successful, before i came to Dr. Peris for surgery. Dr. Peris is confident without being arrogant and his staff is a pleasure to work with. Everything was explained to my satisfaction and the surgery was totally successful. I am without pain for the first time in 30 years!

Dr. Peris went above and beyond to help me with my back pain. Being so nervous about having to go through back surgery, he took the time to explain everything to me and kept me comfortable and calm the morning of my surgery. After care was amazing also. His staff and Dr. Peris took such good care of all my needs. I’m pain free and would highly recommend him to anyone with pain. He has such a warm and kind personality.

Dr. Peris was my third opinion and found the junderlying issue of my back pain immediately! The surgical procedure was outpatient and provided immediate relief! He understood my explanations and provided thorough information on his diagnosis and plan. I was scheduled quickly through his expert staff. Dr. Peris spoke to me before the procedure, in recovery and again in post-op, as did Dr. Benzil (neurosurgeon assisting). Two years later, still feeling wonderful! The previous two surgeons I visited had elaborate surgical opinions and plans that would not have fixed the problem and would have been months of recovery.

After years of pain and trying many treatments to avoid surgery I had to succumb to ACDF surgery. I got opinions from 4 surgeons and thankfully chose Dr Peris to perform my surgery. I knew from the instant I met him that he was the one! He was very kind and reassuring and completely confident (which is what you want in a surgeon). I'm happy to report that after a 6 week recovery I was and still am pain free! My surgery was almost 2 years ago and it was the best decision I could have made......I only wish I had done it sooner! Dr Peris and his nurse are a great team!!

I have been a patient of Drr. Peris for 6 yrs and he is a caring kind person as well a great doctor who cares for his patients. In today's times that is not easy to find, but all the doctors I see at MKMG are great, but especically Dr. Peris.

Friendly, well oiled team, informative,compassionate, caring. Helpful in getting other appts with other specialties. Easy to talk to sensitive to needs.
