Dr. Marshall Scott Irby, MD

My mom was referred to Dr. Irby for renewing her BiPap machine (or so we thought). He came in and barely spoke. Reviewed her records. Left the room without a word. Came back in and looking through her records again. Mom asked if he was finding what he needed and replied "Yes". Then he asked if she knew why she was there. She said to have her sleep machine renewed. He proceeded to be rude about her weight. He told her the reason she is on the machine is that she is too fat. She asked if there is anything he can do to help her with that and his reply was 'push away from the table and not eat things that are fattening'. He presentation would been received much easier if he had been kind about talking to her about her weight. She understands and knows that she is obese but for him to talk down to her was totally unacceptable. I am sure that is why his ratings are only a 3. In my opinion that is more than it should be. You can be honest, but kind about a matter. NOT RUDE!!! She is almost 80… years old and for him to address her in that manner for a 'First Time Patient' was totally uncalled for. He even had the nerve to say he wants to see her back in 3 months. Well, you can rest assured....SHE WILL NOT be back for him to treat my mom in this way. There are plenty of great doctors with much better bedside manner and we will be seeing one of them going forward.

Dr. Irby and his staff are wonderful! Talking with Dr. Irby is like talking with a family member. He listens and takes in all the information you're giving him in order to figure out what the plan will be to get me better. I love him! Thank you, Dr. Irby.

Dr Irby is very rude. He asked me a question, then stopped me immediately when I started answering him. He is super combative. Another time he asked a question, then walked off after I answered three words without saying anything. As a result of his abruptness and inability to listen, he doesn’t get things straight, has many misconceptions, and then blames me (his patient) for his own lack of knowledge about my condition; he doesn’t listen and he WON’T listen but you are wrong no matter what. I worked in hospitals for 35 years. He’s not the worst doctor I’ve ever seen, but he’s pretty bad.

Dr Urby went right to the underlying cause of my asthma. He made a list of things that I needed to do to improve my situation. He perscribed the needed meds to start on. From there I begin to improve within days. He’s not much on small talk but he knows his field and will get you better. That’s simply what matters.

He's great! He treated me and was very accurate with medicine and I am completely satisfied!

Loved Dr. Irby's approach. He was abrupt but needed to be for me to realize how crucial it was to follow his plan of care. His diet, lifestyle and med recommendations have increased my ease of breathing tremendously! I am forever grateful for his knowledge and his sternness to assure I lived accordingly to his plan.

Very rude man. Didn't listen to what I had to say. Awful bedside manner. Very confrontational. Seemed not to believe many of my answers. Very condescending.

Just a terrible experience overall. Didn't feel he listened to me.

Dr. Irby is very friendly and explains everything. He cares about his patients and his job. When talking with Dr. Irby you feel like you are talking with a friend. He has a laid back yet professional office. His staff is great. They are very friendly and staff relationship between Dr. Irby was like family environment. My husband needed to see Dr. Irby because he wasn't sleeping well and had a lot of sympthoms of sleep apnea. I'm so glad we chose him. We wish he could be our primary doctor. He gave more attention and asked my husband more questions than his primary doctor ever has to get to the root of his health issues. We felt like he wanted my husband to feel better. He gave us lots of tips to help my husband. We read reviews on doctors in Monroe and shreveport. We decided on monroe because shreveport was too far for the multiple trips for sleep studies and doctor appointments. We almost didn't pick Dr. Irby because of the review on this website but we are so glad we did pick him.… We highly recommend Dr. Irby and his friendly staff. Our experience was great. The other reviewer said Dr. Irby had a rotten attitude and that is not the case at all and he does not talk to people like they are idiots...he shares his knowledge to educated his patients and to help them and I think that is a great thing. Another great thing is...his office doesn't schedule the appointments too close together so there is no rushing you through.
