Doctor Stoller has been a wonderful communicator over the course of my kidney stone treatment. It has been a long road but he has kept me informed, educated, and included the entire time. His demeanor has made me confident that I have had the right doctor.

Dr. Marshall Stoller is the best doctor and he provided me with a miracle!

Doctor was fine but obviously needed to get on with other appointments and I specifically waited months to go to UCSF for the possibility of NOT having to have internal surgery. He did not exactly put me at ease about going ahead with internal surgery , but since I am bat down by a half a year of dealing with this kidney stone I am just defeated and giving in

Dr. Stoller was very thorough in discussing my latest test results and proposing a follow-up plan.

My wife has had cystinuria for 30 years, and during this time have had many doctors who hve consulted on her problem or have operated on her as well. She is no stranger to surgically removing kidney stones. Her last procedure at UCSF was her 18th. Dr. Stoller came highly recommended by our local urologist in Fresno, Dr. Minor who was a fellow under Dr. Stoller. Dr. Stollers office is always busy, it is a teaching hospital so each time you are seen you will have a resident or fellow or both with Dr. Stoller. He may be quick seeing my wife but he is one of the best surgeons in the U.S. Her last 2 surgeries were done at UCSF and she was home within a day after the procedure. That has never happened in Fresno. She would normally be in for 3-5 days and go home with a drainage tube. I highly recommend Dr. Stoller. And for those of you with stones in his words "drink a s*#t load of water"

Dr. Stoller is well liked by his residents. They seem to have a great time learning their trade from him. I hope they will not adopt his arrogance, and lack of empathy for his patients. He is not an unkind man, but his lack of consideration for me was simply negligent and left me feeling humiliated and furious. He did not ever discuss the possible complications of removing a couple of kidney stones from my bladder and ureter. He did not tell me I would have a nephrostomy tube hanging from my back for several weeks which I would be expected to change the dressing of myself two or three times a week. He didn't tell me the odds of infection from that tube would most certainly land me back in the hospital with an MRSA infection. He did not tell me that my follow up visit would involve a male nurse in a room alone with me telling me to get into stirrups so he could put some kind of instrument in my vagina, much less the purpose for this test. And most frightening of all was his… deliberately ignoring the fact that I was going into anaphylaxis right in front of him. I had a swollen right eye, angioedema. I told him I had a history of anaphylactic reactions occurring out of the blue, cause unknown. over the past eight years. I had been admitted to a ER because of it, and I was vey frightened. I hade been taking Benadryl all day, hoping he would attend to it. He just ignored me when I tried to explain how serious this could get. Everybody in the room next door with Dr. Stoller was having a riotous time, last appointment on Friday, kind of get together, while I lay, frightened and humiliated on the exam table in the next room. The next and last time I saw hi, he seemed genuinely baffled that I was not delighted to see him. I hope you read this, Dr. Stoller and spare someone else an experienced like mine.

dr. stoller is the first dr. to believe how much pain i was in and did something about it. i give the stents zero stars, though. he's a great man, with a great team, and i dare to say i had FUN getting my surgery done. :)
