Dr. Martha Ann Howard, MD

I started bringing my son to Dr. Howard two years ago when he was just four years old. The wait time went by quickly for my little one because of the very nice playroom and wooden train set. The technician who brought us in for the initial tests was wonderful. Dr. Howard is professional and has a quiet and calm energy and obviously deeply cares about her patients. I feel like my son is in good hands. Her father was also an eye doctor and she seems very dedicated to her practice. One visit she had a resident with her and in addition to the many patients she sees, takes the time to teach others. I also noticed that she collects antique eyeglasses and medical equipment but manages to decorate with these objects in a tasteful manner. She is obviously someone who is passionate about what she does. Her calm energy really helped my nervous child who at the time had a fear of doctors.

Staff were very nice through my visit. Dr. Was very understanding and gave me options. Very thorough. ??

While to some people Dr. Howard may seem distant she is a professional. I'm not looking for a pal for my daughter I'm looking for a smart and efficient medical solution. My daughter doesn't fall for the disingenuous facade from most doctors anyway. Dr. Howard is a kind and most importantly smart doctor looking for a real solution. We are very pleased with her work and our daughters progress.

Our visit with Dr. Howard was ok. We were told there would be notes added to the visit summary that were never added. Also this office coded our visit incorrectly for insurance resulting in a hefty bill. Yale customer service is terrible- spoke with a lady who was very unprofessional and confrontational. Refused to help us after multiple phone calls. Insurance called her minutes later and suddenly she looked into the issue. Customer service never followed up as promised.

You may have a long office wait to see her, but she is worth the wait. She has a calm manner, and was able to do a very thorough eye exam on both of my children.

Aloof and somewhat abrupt with reluctant children

I am very fortunate to have Dr. Howard as my eye surgeon. I was badly beaten in an assault and Dr Howard was able to do surgery on me and correct my double vision. I am older than her normal patients by abut 45 years!! but I was VERY nervous about losing sight in my eyes and I dont need to worry about that anymore!

Had stribismus surgery for my son done by Dr Howard. He was two years old at the time. Immediately following surgery we could tell the eyes were still not aligned. We now have another surgery scheduled with a different physician. Terrible going through this with a toddler.

My children have been seen by Dr. Howard twice now. She rushes through- has very little bedside manners. I find that she is over-confident and rushes. Not the kind of care you and your insurance pay her for. Her office staff is just as rude- a smile from anyone on that office would go a long way! We are done with this office.
