Dr. Martha Cornell Skurla, DO

I have been seeing Dr Martha Skurla for years now. I have never written a review of a doctor before but felt compelled to. Dr. Skurla is a excellent doctor who truly cares deeply for her patients. I cannot recommend her more highly. She takes the time to really listen which is rare these days. I myself am in the health care industry and I would call myself very picky about who I se and who I have my family see. There are some people who complain about almost anything or they do not get what they want and so they write bad reviews. In the case of Dr. Skurla, I would suggest you ignore those and try her out. If I could write a review with no stars I would. This doctor does not care about her patients well-being, health or dignity. It's a shame people like this are able to acquire a medical license and allowed to practice medicine. The times I went to her for medical care she was extremely rude and unprofessional. She raised her voice, rolled her eyes, spoke with a hostile tone and mannerisms. I don't even understand what was going on or how this person is still in business.

After bouncing around from doctor to doctor, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Skurla. Am I ever glad I did! Dr. Skurla, simply put, is the very best doctor I have EVER seen. She's thorough, patient, listens, and really, really cares about me. I was having a crisis when I met her and she couldn't have been more helpful or made herself more available. When my wife was badly injured in an automobile accident last year, Dr. Skurla took over her care and nailed every diagnosis right on the money. She is compassionate, trustworthy, and has an outstanding bedside manner. I would highly recommend Dr. Skurla to anyone.

Dr. Skurla is the BEST!!! I have never found a doctor that listens, trusts and responds as she does.

Dr. Skurla is my new primary care after Dr. Nahin left the practice at the Germantown building. I have so far, been very happy with my care with Dr. Skurla. I can tell she really cares about me and my well being. What I really loved most is that she called my neurologist to talk to him about my case so that she was up to date with my health. She has been so helpful with my various medical ailments that pop up. Outside of my need for medical care, she has also taken an active interest in who I am as a person. I am also pursuing medical school and she has been so encouraging and supportive. I highly recommend Dr. Skurla. It's so refreshing to have a doctor who truly cares about me.

The first time I saw her, she spent a lot of time with me and appeard to be very caring. Subsequent follow-ups were very rushed - 5 minutes tops. When I would tell her I was experiencing pain somewhere, she stated, "I don't deal with pain." I thought that was what you went to see a doctor for.

Twice I made a first appointment with Dr. Cornell-Skurla. Twice the office (Family Healthcare) canceled my appointment. The second time they canceled my appointment, it was Friday evening afterhours, for my appointment the following Monday morning. Why did they cancel me again? The doctor was on vacation. Clearly this office has no respect for my schedule. Based on this office's phone wait time and recording and Website, it sounds like a production line office, with PAs performing many of the doctors' duties. Sorry, second time and you're out. I need a doctor who respects my schedule and who I can schedule appointments with over the long-term. I don't want a production line office that substitutes PAs and other doctors who do not follow my ongoing health.

An excellent listener, Dr. Skurla appeared to care a great deal about details of my health. I appreciated her recognizing and encouraging my efforts to live a healthy lifestyle. I like the use of info technology int he office and in scheduling - modern and professinal.

Dr. Skurla is easy to talk to and a good listener, both essential skills for a good doctor/patient relationship. She's a caring and wonderful doctor!
