I've been with this office for years. Continuous problems with reaching a live person as in the almost never answer the phone. It's difficult to get prescriptios refilled- I'm currently on day 6 of trying to get one of my thyroid medications refilled. Left a message on Thursday, now it's Monday and I still haven't heard back. This groups customer service really sucks. ??

I was referred by my primary MD to Dr. Basset for thyroid problem. The experience was horrible. The office staff was rude and unhelpful. Dr. Bassett did not listen and made me feel like I was wasting his time. It was a total waste of my time and money. I'm going to see an endocrinologist at OHSU. It's a pain to drive to Portland but what else to do?

Not concerned with your health and staff is horrible

If you need basic care for diabetes, this place would be fine. But if you have a specialized condition, I would recommend going elsewhere. Dr. Elgeheni (PA) did listen to my symptoms and seemed to really want to help. She was able to diagnose me with a rare disease. But the problem lies with education and communication. I was never made aware that Addison's Disease is life threatening and that I should be updosing for illness/infections to prevent an adrenal crisis. I was never told that I should go to the ER for IV administration of meds if I have a stomach bug. I was not told to get a medical bracelet, not prescribed an emergency injection. I was not told what to watch for or the dangers associated with my disease. I was initially not even given an appointment, only called over the phone and told, "You have Addison's Disease. Increase your sodium and take these meds." I had to ask for an appointment to get questions answered and the doctor did not understand why I requested it. A… month after beginning treatment I ended up with a tooth infection. I continued my basic treatment and began to get very weak, very tired, sleeping nearly 24 hours a day, blood pressure drops, etc.. similar to pre-diagnosis. I did not realize this was because I should have increased my meds due to infection and that it could have thrown me into a crisis. I learned this all on my own, by educating myself about Addison's with very little info received from my endo. If I had not taken it into my own hands and verified the appropriate treatment for this disease, my life would still be at risk. Thankfully, I'm now seeing a new Endo at OHSU and have been told all of the things I was not told at WVE (that I should order a bracelet, have extra meds for updosing, take double my daily dose for illness (Dr Elgeheni only told me about updosing after I asked. And she said, "maybe 5 mg." which is 1/6th of my daily dose. That I should exercise very slowly (5 min at a time at first), etc etc.. The communication issue lies not with the doctor, but with the assistant and the ladies at the front desk. They really are doing their doctors no favor. Lack of response or days to respond, or multiple calls to get one question answered, errors on lab orders and prescriptions (over and over again...). Being told "the prescription has been sent" 4 times, waiting in line each time only to find out it hasn't, and finally reaching someone else in the office who looks it up and says, "I don't know why they didn't send it yet..." I rated a 3 because the doctor cares and will try to get you diagnosed. I think she just needs more supervision from Doctor Bassett, as she is newer, and needs more practice when it comes to educating patients on disease management. There needs to be a complete overhaul of the communication process between patients and doctors and Dr Bassett really needs to put in some effort and teach the PA's the jmportant of educating patients on disease management.

Stay away from office, there are good doctors The staff is horrible

I havent actually met Dr B. but haven't needed to. Diana is awesome. She has answered every question I have had and has made sure all my prescriptions are filled and waiting for me when I need them. She makes sure I am on the right path and gives me encouragement when needed. We even discuss the love/hate I have with food. What diabetic doesn't need that once and a while.
