Dr. Marty Thomas Sellers, MD

Dr Sellers is an amazing surgeon! He preformed my kidney transplant surgery in February of 2003 @ University of Pennsylvania. I was definitely blessed to have him as my surgeon and would highly recommend him to anyone.

I was reffered to Dr. Sellers from my Onocologist at the time. I had a PET Scan that showed a 2mm lesion on the some of my Liver and Dr. Sellers agreeded to take on my case to investigate further. My 1st appointment with Dr. Sellers he stated he would need a sample tissue before he would make any decision to see if surgery was neccessary. I informed Dr. Sellers that I had a previous Liver Biopsy that was not succesful so Dr. Sellers ordered a 2nd Liver biopsy with Radiology, however he DID NOT order a blood work up (why I do not know).. The Liver samples came back benign, although the Radiologist was not sure if the samples where from the Lesion itself. I recieved a call from Dr. Sellers informing me that even though my biopsy sample was benign he did not feel comfortable with my PET Scan showing up hot on my Liver so he suggested for me to have Liver Resection surgery. After much pray and consideration I scheduled the surgery and unbeknown to me Dr. Sellers was not the assisting… surgeon, I did not find that information out until after surgery. Dr. Sellers did make follow up visits in the hospital however he ALWAYS came during the time I was out of it, how can you explain anything to anyone in a drug induced state like that. I feel that Dr. Sellers should have AT LEAST followed up with my Oncologist or my emergency contact so they could explain it to me.. Let me just say that after I was discharged from the hospital I have NOT HAD AND FOLLOW UP WITH DR. SELLERS, not via phone call or follow up visit.. To my understanding and what I have been told by the coordinators over at Piedmont Transplant is that they DO NOT follow up with the patients after surgery if its successful, they wil only reffer you to your primary doctors for issues. I feel this is not right as I have had many pains associated with this Liver Resection only for Dr. Sellers and his staff at Piedmont Transplant not to follow me since they were the ones who did the surgery... The saga continues however my note to whoever is reading this be wise and make your own sound decision for which physician is best for you regardless if they are reffered or not :-(

Words cannot expresshow much my family loves and appreciates Dr. Sellers. He gave my Mother a chance to fight a horrible cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) by operating on her Aug. 2012. Other doctors around Middle Ga. gave her no hope.....Dr. Sellers gave her a chance! Thank you, Dr. Sellers!! We love and appreciate YOU!

Dr. Sellers performed my liver resection last week. He is an amazing doctor. I felt from the time that I met him to the time of my follow-up visit after surgery that I was his only patient. It seemed to be his mission to do whatever it takes for me to have an extended, successful life. I'm not exactly happy to say that I won't have to visit him again. From a medical standpoint, I am happy for the outcome. Thanks, Dr. Sellers for your expertise, your patience, your caring, your bedside manner, and most of all for doing whatever it took to heal my body. KB
