Dr. Marybeth Ackerley, MD

Dr Ackerley has been extremely helpful to me personally. I searched for years for a doctor who could help my navigate my "mystery illness" and have improved much under Dr Ackerley's care!

Dr. Ackerley is the only psychiatrist I found who was willing to help me to gradually taper off clonazepam, the severely addictive benzodiazepine drug that other psychiatrists had prescribed for me for three years. (Benzodiazepines in long-term use are more addictive than heroin, and meant to be only prescribed for a maximum of three weeks.) when I asked the other doctors about gradually tapering off the drug, the only options they gave me were to stay on it indefinitely or quit it outright with no tapering. (Can you imagine a doctor giving either if those advice options for a drug more addictive than heroin?) Dr. Ackerley switched me to diazepam, which is longer lasting and makes tapering easier. Still, it is a process that will take months to complete, and I was on a low dose to begin with. I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Ackerley for helping me with this, among many other things she is helping me with. It is well worth the wait for an appointment with her, as she gives 100% to her… patients.

Dr Mary has been profoundly helpful in my journey from "mystery illness" to regaining my health. As others have noted she is an excellent diagnostician and relentless in finding the underlying causes. But what I like best was entirely unexpected. She is down to earth and even quite funny in a dry sort of way. I enjoy my visits and feel her optimism has helped my recovery.

I cannot be too enthusiatic about Dr. Ackerley. She listens, she cares, and she actually helps you to diagnose the thing that is not allowing you to live fully. She uses many diagnostic modalities, and many tools to heal-from the traditional to the alternative. She is very smart, and has helped me and my husband regain our health. Dr. Ackerley is a refreshing anomaly in the medical arena. I would give her ten stars if I could.

Seems to have a very broad knowledge of both traditional and alternative forms of healing. Like talking to an encyclopedia who actually also cares about you. Got me better very quickly, and I have now referred her most of my family too.

I went to see Dr. Ackerley after 20 years of being diagnosed with depression. Antidepressants have never worked for more than a few months, and I have seen one psychiatrist after another who just pushes another pill.Dr. Ackerley actually listened to my whole story and seemed to genuinely care about getting me better. And she did! I have never felt this well. I am on a regiment of diet, exercise and supplements and can't believe how good I feel. I would highly recommend her to anyone who has been through the psychiatry treadmill without any results. It is worth waiting for an appointment with her.
