Dr. Maryjane Emily Braunstein, MD

She was my doctor for my first pregnancy and delivered my daughter. She was very rude and judgmental, and didn’t take anything I said seriously. When I told her during my checkups that I didn’t want an epidural, she laughed at me and said “we’ll see about that”. Then during my actual labor, I was in a lot of pain of course, but still didn’t want an epidural. She kept trying to push it on me despite me saying no multiple times, my fiancé telling her no, and then my mom went off on her telling her no and to stop asking. She broke my water without asking or even telling me that she was going to. She just did it and I felt it rush out and asked her “did you just break my water?” And she very cockily said “yep!” Once I pushed my baby out, I needed some stitches and I had lifted my bum up prior to get a little more comfortable and the things she had underneath me fell, causing some fluids to splash on her. I said sorry probably 4 times and she just glared at me. My fiancé later told me… that he’s pretty sure SHE tore me with her fingers when I was pushing because she was pulling me apart. It was truly a traumatic experience all around and I wish I knew what I know now and had spoken up for myself and refused her “care”. When I went to my postpartum checkup, the first question she asked was “what kind of birth control do you want to go on?”... not even a discussion about whether I WANTED to go on birth control. She is horrendous and should not be working in this profession. Please see literally anyone else.

The only reason I had to deal with her was because my Doctor was not the office at the moment. She was my only option. First of all, I had a Cerclage removed about a week ago and I still had some stitches left and that’s why I had gone back. She was on call that day I decided to wait for her. As soon as she come in. She look like she was annoyed and didn’t want to do her job! She told me of the rib “ I’m going to see what I can do” . She said she could find my stitches so she kept looking for them. I was in so much pain I feel like I was treated like a object she kept hurting me as she was rushing . Also at the begging she said so you doctor removed part of the stitches but could finish doing it. She’s so rude and I have a feel she’s racist . I mean I pay my insurance and everything to get this type of treat. Please don’t waste you time with her.

Thought I was being dramatic in how I was feeling, but these reviews definitely left me feeling vindicated. I should’ve read them first! An APRN suggested I go to the OBGYN after my birth control meds I had been using to regulate periods stopped working. Dr.Braunstein was the soonest appointment available, so that’s where they scheduled me. I could tell she did not want to be there and was annoyed she had to be. She laughed condescendingly at me and Interrupted me throughout the entire appointment. By the first few minutes I was on the verge of a panic attack (I have an anxiety disorder) and started fumbling over words and struggled giving details, which I could tell made her impatient. I think she had the impression I was either lying about my issues or I was a stupid young person who didn’t know what I was talking about, when in reality the issue was that she made me extremely uncomfortable. I’m also not sure what’s standard at an OBGYN, as it was one of my first times, but she… didn’t ask questions about symptoms or anything along those lines. I will never go back. The appointment was a waste of $110 and my time.

I agree with most of the low ratings. She seemed to be in a rush. Rude and arrogant lady. She didn't even take the time to listen to my questions talk less of answering them. Please find a better OBGYN.

Will never recommend her she is judgemental , arrogant , cocky, and it looks to me she is rascist

I saw Dr Braunstein for years as she moved thru three practices.....then she disappeared....not sure where she is now or why she moved. I loved her tho!

I did not choose Dr. Braunstein, she was on call for my normal OB. I had previously decided to have a C-section due to the size of my baby but went into labor in the middle of the night so Dr. Braunstein performed the delivery. Everything went uneventfully enough until after the baby delivered, some of the lab values were questionably low. Dr. Braunstein immediately became DEFENSIVE and focused on telling me that she didn't do anything wrong, rather than dealing with my obvious concerns about my baby - not her "guilt" or "innocence" in doing anything wrong. My child's lab values were so low, I'm now convinced that she may have done something wrong in measuring them, because my baby ended up being fine. But until I knew that, I spent the first two hours of my baby's life sobbing thinking something terrible had happened. The next day, Dr. Braunstein spent about 10 seconds with me in the hospital when she came in to examine my wound - did not stick around to discuss the condition of my… baby. I don't even remember her ASKING about the condition of my baby. I felt that she was worried about her own neck and didn't care very much about the emotional wringer that I had just been put through. I would NEVER choose her or recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Braunstein was a bit rushed from day 1. She saw me during my pregnancy and although my blood pressure was increasing with every appointment and my protein was high she continued to ignore my concerns of Preeclampsia (which I had in my previous pregnancy). I will never forget her words "you don't look like someone with Preeclampsia"! Needless to say the next day I went into the ER and was rushed into emergency Csection with "Extreme Preeclampsia"!! Not only were my own feelings completely ignored, now our baby was born at only 25 weeks!!! I REGRET not standing my ground and looking for another dr. To top it all off....1 week after my emergency c-section, I called her office stating that my leg was hurting really bad and the pain was increasing day by day. She phoned in a muscle relaxer for me to take. The next day I found myself back in the hospital with a BLOOD CLOT

I have and will continue to recommend her to my friends and family. She is personal and very thorough - spends lots of time with her patients. She even has a sense of humor which makes the whole visit experience pleasant. There are always going to be those hard to please people out there........so, judge her for yourself - you will be glad that you did!
