Dr. Mary Hoyt Briggs, MD

I chose Dr Briggs because after researching her credentials I felt comfortable that she would understand a woman of my age and how I was feeling. When I met her I knew immediately I had made the right choice and I was in good hands. Dr Briggs explained everything and took her time with me. She made sure I understood my options. I had cancer. She said "I have made you an appointment with Dr Hamid, he is one of the best. You can go for other opinions and choose another Dr if you prefer. Let me know what you want to do." Dr Hamid took me through the next phase of my cancer. She was right, he is excellent and I love them both. I am cancer free and owe it to Dr Mary Briggs for going the extra step with me.

If you live near the Lexington, MA branch of Lahey Clinic and you don't go to the gynecologist to make friends, these are your folks! Dr. Mary Briggs is not into small talk. Frankly, neither was anyone else involved in the process of making an appointment with Lahey Clinic or having my vitals checked by her nurse. I was not offended or treated poorly (although the Lahey people are kind of cranky, right down to the tone of their "new patient letter" sent to my home). I like to feel as though health professionals are assessing me as a whole, not just whether they feel anything strange up there, if you get my drift. Happy GYN hunting!

Dr. Briggs was able to perform a laproscopic subtotal hysterectomy on my canteloupe sized uterus and I was back to work in a week. She always spends as much time with me as a I need, listens to my concerns, and respects me enough to explain all options and let me decide for myself how I want to proceed. She's a lovely person as well.
