Dr. Mary Elizabeth Cutting, MD

Wow , I came across a name I haven’t heard in 25 years ! I was a nurse at Dr Ahdoots practice many many years ago and had the unfortunate experience of having to work with Mary Cutting after their practices merged. She was a nightmare !!!!

About a year ago I had to get a colposcopy with Dr. Cutting, and I am only writing this review now because I had to get another one recently using a different doctor at the same practice, and my experience was not even comparable. I was nervous about the procedure and wasn't too sure what the process was, and I expected Dr. Cutting to explain the procedure as any normal doctor would do. Nope, she came into the room abruptly, barely made eye contact, mumbling her name and that I was here for a colposcopy. The moment she roughly shoved the speculum in me, I knew the whole procedure was going to be terrible. At the time I was struggling with pain during intercourse and going to pelvic floor therapy, and Dr. Cutting didn't have any reaction when I clenched from the pain when she inserted it. Before the actual biopsy was taken and the area was being prepped, I felt her jabbing around, not seeming to care of me clenching from the pain. When it came time for the actual biopsy, the only… warning I got was a mumble from the other end of the table that I'll feel a pinch. It was more like a ripping feeling, bringing me to tears and nausea at that point. When all was said and done, she pretty much threw a pad on the counter and told me I'll have cramping and bleeding, then pretty much left, again, without any eye contact, like she was bothered to even have had to do the procedure. The nurse in the room during the procedure showed 100% more sympathy, asking if I was ok and if I went home and anything didn't feel right after a few days to call. After she left and I sat up on the table, there was alot of blood (which I did not experience during my most recent biopsy, there was none when I sat up). I started to feel lightheaded and I sat back down for a couple minutes to breathe and regain my composure. I apologized to the nurse for staying in the room so long, and she immediately offered me water and asked if I was ok, Dr. Cutting was nowhere to be seen, as if she would have cared anyway. The next 2 days were rough, I couldn't stand up straight due to the severe cramping, and I had heavy bleeding and discharge. This time around, I barely have any pain, just a little cramping, I can walk around and do normal activities, and I have very little bleeding. I would never see Dr. Cutting again, and I am so surprised about the positive reviews I see online.

First time a doctor made me cry for asking questions! Do yourself a favor and avoid this doctor at all cost! Her bed side manner is atrocious and she is just down right mean. I dont know how she is still employed!

It is hard for me to write this review at all, but I feel that it is important other women know NOT to go to this provider without knowing the potential harm that could come your way. I went to Dr. Cutting for a check-up, having severe symptoms of pain in my lower right pelvic area and very abnormal menstrual symptoms and pain associated with any type of insertion, even a tampon. I read up on this practice, as a woman hoping to become a midwife myself one day, and was nervous but optimistic that Dr. Cutting would be a good doctor. While I was taken into my appointment quickly, it took a while for Dr. Cutting to come in the room. Once she did, she came right in without any introduction, handwashing, sanitizer, etc. and just asked me what was wrong with me. She glanced over my chart and told me to sit down on the table. I specifically told her about my anxiety on having any type of exam that involved insertion, but she said it would be fine. A few minutes later I’m laying on the bed and… without even telling me she inserted the speculum all the way in and opened it fully. I can genuinely say I have never felt quite such immense pain in my life. Tears started rolling down my face and suddenly turned into me sobbing and asking her to stop several times. She did not respond, giggled, and said to relax it was fine. I was physically trying to move away and kept asking her to stop, to which she responded that I needed to ‘calm down’. She did a scrape test (again, without telling me), and once she was done she told me to just get dressed and stop crying, laughing again. I was so humiliated and shocked immediately, and could not do anything but try to collect myself and get dressed as quickly as I could. She came back in, told me I had an infection and needed to get blood and an ultrasound. I asked her about the pain, to which she responded she didn’t know and it was probably the infection (to which I explained I had only had symptoms of the infection for a week and the pain had been more than 4 months). I did not get any medical information as to why she wanted to do blood or an ultrasound. I immediately went towards the blood test area and left through the back exit, bawling and ashamed from the experience. I have never in my life had such a terrible experience, and I bled for a few days after which should never happen. I have been so emotionally scarred by this experience, feeling violated and ashamed. In addition to the physical and emotional harm, she managed to be dismissive of my sexuality and race, making belittling comments about both. Not until the night after did I read her reviews, shocked at how ZocDoc has her rated as 4.6 stars. Please read the reviews- they are skewed and only show the best, but if you google her and look at other reviews or the lowest rated reviews on ZocDoc, so many women share similarly awful experiences in which Dr. Cutting was rough, caused pain, was dismissive, and overall disrespectful. I do not want any other person to have this experience, so please spare yourself.

Slow. Dismissive. Looking for endometriosis instead of symptoms you are in for.

I went to Dr Mary Cutting because she had good reviews on zocdoc, which I use to book my appointments. I really wish I did further research, because the zocdoc reviews are not a reflection of her knowledge, performance, or manners in the least. I went to her for the first time because I had a horrible UTI where I could barely last longer than 5 minutes without feeling urgency. Staff at the office was extremely friendly, so I thought this was a good choice. When she came in for my appointment, she pointed out it was a little over a year since my last pap smear and wanted to do one that day. I insisted we didn't do one that day because of how uncomfortable I was. On top of the UTI, I was also having my period. I told her I would come back at her earliest availability, but begged not to do one that day. However, she INSISTED. Kept saying "it's fine, we're going to do it" like I had no say as the patient. During the exam, she was NOT GENTLE. Even if I didn't have so many sensitivities due… to the UTI and my period, this was aggressive by all standards. I left feeling extremely upset and in more pain than I was when I arrived. I attributed this experience to her having an off day. I went back multiple times for various things like yeast infections, problems with the birth control, you know...things you see an OBGYN for. EVERY TIME WAS WORST THAN THE LAST! Extremely dismissive and does not answer any questions. Every time you have a concern she says "not a big deal, don't worry about it." And maybe it isn't, but it would be great to have an educated and informative reason as to why it should not be a concern. Patients should not be made to feel like a burden, especially given the importance of women's health. After 4 or so times of these experiences, I saw people online with very similar experiences. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I don't even know how this woman is still allowed to meet with patients, maybe she's better suited for research. The practice itself is lovely, just avoid Dr. Cutting.

I have been with Dr. Cutting 30 plus years. She only needs one glance at my (long) record to know what needs to be done for routine checkups every year. I feel that I am in good hands with her. So far I have not had serious issues but if I did I am sure she would be on top of it.

Hands down the worst medical experience I've had of any kind!! The first experience was bad, but I chalked it up to Dr. Cutting having an off day. The second however was even worse, and I left crying in frustration with unanswered questions and being made to feel very stupid. My issues with chronic HPV, miscarriage, abdominal pain/bloating, breast pain, unexplained hair and weight loss, and debilitating exhaustion lasting 6 months since my miscarriage was not worth her time and did not 'necessitate' blood work or any further discussion as to causes. After asking questions about potential causes I had researched she told me not to read webmd (totally understand this can be annoying to doctors). However she refused to even talk through my symptoms or offer alternative causes!! She walked out of the office in a huff after begrudgingly signing off on a CBC test, which doesn't even address my symptoms. She didn't request any follow up action of any kind. After leaving very upset two… nurses noticed and after I told the me numerous other patients have complained to them about their awful experiences with Dr. Cutting and that she has a terrible reputation in the office. They were lovely and brought me to the front desk and got me scheduled with another doctor in the practice for the following week. Even if Dr. Cutting is the only doctor available at the practice (which is common due to patients not wanting to schedule with her) please don't waste your time! Wait till one of the other doctors is available. I have only had great experiences with all the other doctors in the practice. Overall Dr. Cutting is very rude, dismissive, rushed, and uncaring. She is however quite skilled at making you feel like an idiot with every question you ask and ignoring serious health issues!

I've been seeing her for a number of years. I'd have to agree with most of the reviews in regards to poor bedside mannerisms. In my past two visits, she didn't complete the exam thoroughly and I question if sterile technique was used. She didn't review my records to see if it was time for a pap smear, went ahead and started, then looked at the records and said oh sorry - not needed. I am leaving the practice for an OBGYN who will truly care for me as a patient.

Dr. Cutting is the worst doctor I have ever seen- I wish I could give zero stars. She was exceptionally rude, wouldn't answer any of my questions, rushed through the appointment, and was very, very rough during the exam. Left the office in tears and obviously wouldn't recommend her to anyone. I plan to submit a formal complaint to the practice.
