Dr. Mary Agnes Janowiak, MD

Because of Mary Janowiak’s lack of knowledge of meconium during delivery and refusal to follow my daughter’s need for a caesarean, my beautiful grandson died. Mary scheduled my daughter’s c-section for 2 days later and then refused a c-section even though meconium had been discovered hours earlier. She even took the fetal heart monitor off during delivery for no reason. When we kept asking her what was going on, and why she wasn’t doing a C-section we were completely ignored. us a reason for refusing a C-section. She just kept telling us “the nick you will be here”. The nick you cannot remove meconium from a babies lungs. My grandson died the following day from meconium aspiration. We will be filing a complaint against this woman with the board of medicine. You have other options for an OB/GYN in this valley. Do not go to Janowiak. We are devastated by the loss of our sweet baby. Don’t make the same mistake we did.

How there are any positive reviews on this provider is beyond me. After my experience the only way I can sum up how I feel about it is some form of PTSD. I felt like every question I asked Janowiak about my body during my pregnancy or my pregnancy in general was an annoyance to her. She was brief in her answers AT BEST. I found more information out about my pregnancy from the internet, but then she criticized me for looking on the internet. At one point near the end of my pregnancy she told me what my Bishop's score was. I curiously asked her what a Bishop's score was and she told me "Just some numbers", and then the conversation was over. I figured I would just suck it up and get through my pregnancy with her and it ended up being one of the worse decisions of my life, as the birth of my daughter will always be shadowed by Janowiak's lack of professionalism and rude, pompous demeanor. My family that was present for the day we were in labor/birth was equally as disgusted and… appalled. They have encouraged me several times to report her to St Al's so that no other woman has to be treated like I was. On a day that I was at my most vulnerable she was THE most callous and unsupportive person in the room. She talked to my amazing nurses like they were stupid the entire day; I honestly don't know how they didn't explode at her. I wanted to stick up for them, but felt I should keep it professional since I was at her mercy. She had me start pushing just randomly, before I felt pushy AT ALL, and 3 hours later, when I finally did have the push urge, I had no energy to push. She mentioned at one point during my pushing that she would go excuse herself to go brush her teeth, since I clearly wasn't making any progress. I've never felt like such an inconvenience. At one point she even said she wondered if I would need a c-section if I couldn't get the baby out on my own (mind you our daughter was only 6 lbs 14 oz). She stated "I didn't think you had crappy hips, but maybe I'm wrong and you do have crappy hips?" Towards the second half of the pushing my epidural started to wear off, which I communicated to her several times. She did not care, and told me to stop pushing the pain management button and that we didn't need to get the anesthesiologist back into the room because I obviously couldn't push good enough while I was medicated. By the time my daughter made it very apparent that she was ready to come out, I had nothing left in me to push, no epidural pain management, and required a vacuum assisted delivery because I was exhausted from pushing for 3 hours at the demand of Janowiak. Not to mention the entire time she stitched me up she bragged about how she graduated top of her class for medical school, but never went to class because she was always skiing. Just what I wanted to hear. I'll forever regret my choice to have her be my provider for what I hoped to be a wonderful experience.

I switched to Dr. Janowiak after she was the doctor on call when I delivered my daughter with my first pregnancy. It wasn't the easiest delivery and she was so professional and made me feel comfortable. When I got pregnant with my son I quickly decided to have her as my doctor and I am so glad I did. She took her time with me and never made me feel rushed. She didn’t make me feel like “just another patient” and was quick to be in contact with me for anything I needed. She was smart, funny and very knowledgeable. She had no problem getting on the floor and showing me specific exercises and even gave me suggestions for books to help with having two babies so close together. I am so glad I had her this time around and would highly recommend her to anyone! Thank you Dr. Janowiak!

My experience with this office is very negative. I was told flat out over the phone that they would not schedule an emergency visit because 'you are most likely miscarrying" (I didn't). Then after my intake, they scheduled me for genetic testing without telling me, consulting me, or asking me if I'd like to participate. I had to spend an hour on the phone with staff to figure out what she was trying to schedule me for. Terrible communication and bedside manner. Very VERY little involvement with the doctor, as if we don't matter and are wasting her time. Cutting all ties and going elsewhere.

Mary was supportive and helped me with breathing and focusing techniques during my labor. She kept me well informed as the process was changing and unfolding and updated on my options. Even though monitoring indicated medical concerns that might require intervention, Mary respected my wish of a natural labor as long as our baby was safe. I had hemorrhaging post delivery which she acted on quickly, while also again keeping me informed of my options. I feel like the care that Mary provided was outstanding.

I went to Dr. Janowiak after I experienced uterine bleeding. She attempted to take a biopsy (three times) pushing the instrument up into my uterus so hard I thought I was going to faint. She said she couldn't get a specimin because my uterus was "too hard"! What she did to me was the worst pain I've EVER experienced. There was also a student in the room when she placed the speculum inside me. She showed the student what NOT to do by pushing the speculum UP so hard I wanted to scream. This was the worst experience with an OBGYN in my entire life. I've since gone to another Doctor who obtained a biopsy with no problem or pain! Steer clear of Dr. Janowiak. She obviously doesn't know what she is doing and I had to pay for her inexperience and stupidity.
