Dr. Mary Hui Lien, MD

I am a very forgiving person and I never leave negative reviews for any business, but this one is essential for other patients who should prepare themselves if referred to this physician. She has no bedside manner whatsoever. No empathy. Continued to talk over me. The first sentence out of her mouth was that she was doing me a favor by seeing me in her busy schedule. She appeared rushed. I walked out crying from this appointment.

Went in for second opinion. As with my last visit about a year ago, Dr. Lien took time to listen to me, was unhurried, caring and compassionate. She ordered a biopsy even though she thought my skin problem was fine. You couldn't find a better doctor.

Dr was 55 min late to see me and then only spent 5 min with me, stating she had another apt she was late for. She left me with students who were no help.

Ms. Lien has an impressive resume, MIT & Duke, I thought I was going to get a thorough examination, especially after reading her own bio on line. What I got was a rushed, non existent examination, with no plan for a follow up due to my concerns of moles that had changed in appearance. I ended up going to another Dermatologist who removed eight moles of concern. Received the news yesterday that one was Melanoma. She had a chance to be a hero and catch my cancer early, and appeared to care less. Please do not listen to one Dr., always get a second opinion.

Dr. Lien spent next to no time with me, was not open to questions, and did not explain my condition to me. At checkout, an appointment could not be made in the timeframe the doctor wanted and an email was "supposedly" sent to the doctor and I was to get a call for a follow-up appointment, and this never happened. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Lien if you want insight into your condition or want to have continuity of care!

Does not connect with patient (only spoke with resident doctor during the exam like I wasn't in the room), rushed out within 3 minutes of seeing me, & established no rapport. Was not thorough and did not go over treatment plan: the resident did. I was made to feel that I had a number and not a name!!
