Dr. Mary Ellen Monaco, DO

Stay away. She comes out and gets her patients, no nurse. Then proceeds to blame taking call for another doctor and the nurses at the hospital that don’t know what they are doing. My kid although a young adult left in tears . We sat in a tiny waiting room waiting to be called back, Doctor and front desk staff had a 15 minute discussion amongst themselves about the free lunches they will be receiving from reps and then heard her talk about the free dinner she was invited to from another company. I remember the date October 30th. Not surprisingly, she forgot to write a referral for a test. We got in the car ready to leave and receptionist came running out after us to come back in. We did, to get the order, then and only then did she apologize, but blamed the hospital nurses and being on call. Being diagnosed with epilepsy in early adulthood is devastating enough but don’t need to be treated like my child was (or not being treated, depending how you look at it) She knows there are no… good neurologists out of Joliet ( her receptionist told me that when I called to make an appointment). Exact words were “Oh yes, we get a lot of calls wanting to switch neurologists after leaving the hospital “ Go anywhere but here

I've been seeing Dr. Monaco for about 4 years no. She really knows how to run her own practice professionally. Everyone there is so very kind to me every time I have to go in or if there are any questions on either of our parts. Dr. Monaco is very to the point and no slop. She takes what she does seriously and she takes the extra mile for precautions. She is kind-hearted and is always asking a question about how I am and how life is going. Dr. Mancao had made very many after-hours and personal house calls to check on me after any medical changes, blood drawing or tests that have been done. I would recommend consulting with Dr. Mancaco and her office. It's a very clean facility. -One happy patient

I honestly can’t say how great Dr Monaco is. I found her after going to a terrible neurologist who had a wait time of 4 hours despite having a noon appointment . He wrote me off as being depressed . From my very first experience with Dr. Monaco to current she is great every time !! My first visit she really took the time to listen to my concerns and gave me some pamphlets on dealing with constant migraines . When I had my surgery Dr Monaco made sure to check in on me and she wasn’t even my neurosurgeon . She just goes above and beyond , she is caring , compassionate , understanding . There is NEVER a wait time because she doesn’t over book her patients for money. She is a doctor who TRULY LOVES what she does . I would recommend her to anyone and everyone !

No bedside manner; very standoffish; not the right fit for a caring, elderly person.

Went to her took over 6 months to diagnose me it was a wrong diagnosis when she finally did she said I had MS and I didn't if she started me on steroids I wouldn't have all these problems.

Dr. Monaco has been my neurologist for approximately 15 years. She takes time to listen, and answers any questions I have regarding my health, procedures, and test results. She's a competent, professional, and caring doctor. Her office staff members are also very professional.

She saved my life, she is more than capable, kind , and caring.

I saw Dr. Monaco in the hospital. She prescribed a medication that was in my records I could not take and also I had told her personally it severely lowered my BP. Disregarding all warnings she prescribed it anyway and I suffered a serious drop in BP and loss of consciousness because of it.

what I liked most is that she really took her time to listen. she also worked around my schedule. She is a good doctor and she makes me feel comfortable.

Dr. Monaco sat with me talked me througheverything. so i could make a informed decision. pleasent manor. caring, she has everything i like in a doctor.
