Dr. Joan Sheetz is the Medical Director of the Rainbow Kids Pediatric Palliaitve Care Program at Primary Children's Medical Center and an Associate Professor in the In-Patient Medicine division of the Department of Pediatrics. Rainbow Kids Palliative Care team is a multidisciplinary team which works with children with life-threatening illnesses and their families, assisting with communication, medical decision making, spiritual and psychosocial distress, and symptom management for chronically ill children and children at the end of life. In addition to clinical and administrative duties related to the Rainbow Kids program, Dr. Sheetz is involved in clinical research about pediatric palliative care, and teaching pediatric residents and medical students the principles of end of life care.
