Dr. Mary A. Vadnais, MD

Dr. Vadnis has wonderful bedside manner. No one likes, or wants, to receive negative news when pregnant. She is very careful, thoughtful and caring. She is the type of doctor you WANT to walk beside you and guide you during a difficult time. Cannot say enough wonderful things about her.

Words cannot describe the beyond excellent care I have received since being a patient of Dr. Vadnais. I met her for the first time on a Friday afternoon after an ultrasound indicated that my unborn daughter was anemic. In very short order, Dr. Vadnais orchestrated and performed a successful fetal blood transfusion to provide relief for the anemia. It was very apparent that the procedure is not simple and it took an extreme amount of coordination and skill. Dr. Vadnais put my husband and I at ease and set realistic and informed expectations from the waiting time we would incur, all the way to the success of the procedure. She is extremely attentive, a great communicator, and made every effort to ensure a successful procedure. She possesses incredible humility, knowing when to take a step back and reevaluate the operating environment. It is so clear that Dr. Vadnais cares about me as a person, not just a patient; and in her care you feel as though you are being treated by your closest… friend. My husband and I have the deepest trust in her and would recommend her to anyone in similar circumstances or any other MFM patient.

No one likes receiving bad news about their pregnancy, it feels as though there is no other experience in life that can be more painful. You're left feeling helpless, and some ways broken. Dr. Vadnais and her team thankfully had the expertise to identify an issue with our sons insufficient placenta, most importantly, they discovered it with plenty of time to save his life (and our twin daughters life too). We actually had other complications along the way, yes, it was a really trying pregnancy. However, Dr Vadnais and her team were always very direct with telling us what the complications were, what it all meant, and what to expect next. It's not news you want to hear, but when you do hear it, you want to feel like the person explaining it to you truly cares. All I can say, is thru the darkest of days, Dr Vadnais made us feel like we were her most important patient. She made us feel valued, cared for, and most of all she gave us the support we needed to lift ourselves up off the… ground. Our twins thankfully made it to 31 weeks, and were born healthy. It was a long stay in the Beth Israel NICU! Without the help, compassion, and support Dr. Vadnais gave us along the way I'm not sure I'd be the proud parent I am today. We were truly blessed to be part of her team...

I had to see an MFM doctor due to my high risk pregnancy and when I met Dr. Vadnais, I knew it was a perfect match. From discovering I was pregnant with triplets, at 6 weeks, she followed me along throughout my entire pregnancy and even checked on me occasionally after I gave birth. Her personal approach made a very difficult pregnancy much easier. Her entire team made my husband and I feel extremely welcome and after over an hour commute to the city for each of the many appointments, it was well appreciated. Not once did we ever consider seeing a doctor closer to home. Dr. Vadnais and her team, are well educated but also speak to you with compassion and treat you like they truly care about your well being and medical care. They do not sugar coat possibilities of the unknown, but at the same time give their guidance with medical knowledge to back it up. In addition to our in-person visits our questions were always answered in a timely manner if I had called in, or emailed them… directly. If Dr. Vadnais was not available herself, I was told I would receive follow up within a reasonable amount of time, and surely enough I always did. A quick side note to mention. My pregnancy was not always easy and we faced challenges as many others do where we needed to make decisions that my husband and I never in a million years thought we were going to have to make in regards to the health of our children. Dr. Vadnais would sit and spend as long as it took with us to make sure we processed and understood the information given in order to make the best possible decisions we could for our family. Sometimes these appointments would be well over an hour. I do not know how she does it, but it's true. When dealing with a high risk pregnancy, it is important that you feel like you have a doctor that spends the appropriate amount of time with you, and this was so comforting moving forward. Everything about our visits to the Boston-location was easy. From driving in, to the parking garage, to the check in counter, the extremely friendly front desk staff at the OB desk, the nurses, the techs, and Dr. Vadnais herself- is outstanding. I cannot speak more highly of this place. I have recommended everyone I can and will continue to do so. I truly feel that Dr. Vadnais and her team, attributed to the life of my children, and that speaks volumes to me. The wonderful staff at HVMC-Boston have become our family, and we look forward to visiting them with our babies in the future to introduce our children to all the wonderful people that helped with our care along the way. My husband and I feel truly blessed that we were lucky enough to find not only an exceptionally talented doctor, but one who clearly takes pride in her craft. Any doctor can rattle off medical terminology, but you can't teach compassion for people, and that is what she exudes.

I was sent to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for an emergency C-section. Dr. Vardnais was on-call and delivered my daughter. She was professional and' most importantly, caring! If I lived closer to Boston again, I would see her as my OB/GYN.
