I am a liver cancer patient at Tulane Med. Center in New Orleans. I was doing everything needed to receive a liver transplant, which is a life-saving medical treatment. After 3-years of testing, making all the appointments, going through chemo, more testing. I was about to go through the final series of tests before possibly being put on the transplant list. At the last possible opportunity, this "Dr." Romero decided on her own to stop further procedings because of a small caretaker technicality that would be easily overcome. She then called a meeting and convinced the other doctors to DENY my liver transplant. She is cold as ICE, and I've learned that other patients have had trouble with her also. She should not be in the position she is in, I'm currently hiring an attorney and investigating her past actions. She broke HCA policies, the med. center policies, and state and federal law to deny my transplant on the grounds that she did. She is not even allowed to make such a decision… on her own, and I have the right to be present when any such meeting of the treatment team is called to make ANY decisions, let alone a decision to deny a life-saving medical treatment. She called that meeting one day after having told me and my family and friends that everything was a go, and she did not notify that she was doing so, thereby STEALING my right to be present in that meeting with anyone else I needed to be there. She is dirty, cold, and mean. She somehow believes that she has the ok to take a patient's or human's rights away if she chooses. It's unbelievable behavior for any physician, let alone a Neuropsychologist who's supposed to be there to help Liver Cancer victims. I tried contacting hospital and corporate administrators, and spent two months getting run around. So it's time to stop their run around, and let's see what state and federal courts have to say about the matter. Don't ever find yourself in the position of being treated by this so-called Doctor, you will regret it.
