Dr. Massimo Balestri, PhD

I saw Dr Balestri for 5 and a half months for a dissociative disorder and childhood trauma. I have stopped seeing him because I felt that he was overly critical and dismissive. When I raised this issue, he told me that criticizing me was part of my treatment, and then he corrected himself by saying, what I perceive as criticism. Because he told me that I am very sensitive and perhaps I have issues with him because he is male. I had a similar issue when I pointed out to him that he was running 5-10 minutes late for every session chatting with the client before me while my sessions were always ended early or exactly on time. He was dismissive and downplayed it (saying it was only 2-3) and tried to make me out as being unreasonable. Maybe his approach works for others but not for me.
